Hello, how are you? So I've been organizing my art materials, and I came across one of my sketchbooks from 9 years ago. I felt the urge to recreate it, and to my surprise, I did.
The very first medium an artist tries is a graphite pencil, which I guess is true, hello, it's me! LOL, Staedler is the famous pencil brand, and it is expensive as hell, but I saved a lot of money to buy them, and some were gifted to me.
So the first person I am going to recreate is G-Dragon from Big Bang; he is one of the reasons I like listening to K-Pop. This is one of the photos from their MV Behind-the-Scenes. He looks so cool with his red hair, so I decided to draw it. Looking at it now that I have a lot of drawing experience, I can see how to fix it entirely, and that's what I am going to do today, hehe.
Materials I Used:

- Graphite Pencils
- Brush
- Eraser
- Charcoal Powder
- Soft Pastel
- Charcoal Pencil
Let's Draw!
Let's Draw!
I told myself that if I drew the line art well, I would continue the drawing process, and, luckily, honestly, I've been struggling with drawing portraits lately, so this is my retribution, positively, of course, hehehe.
Now that the proportion is good enough, I draw the line art more cleanly.
And then using the powdered charcoal and a brush, I added darker shades to where the shadows are.
In this part, I alternately use the 9B matte graphite pencil and then the darkest charcoal pencil I have. I just drew the darkest part of the face, which is the eyes, the nose, and the lips.
And just like I did earlier, I added a more intense layer of charcoal powder to the drawing just to intensify the contrast.
I remembered I have soft pastel red on it, so I just lightly touched it to not ruin the drawing LOL.
Not too much red but just enough, I like it this way so that I can preserve the black and white aesthetic of the drawing.
I added a border around it just to make it more square and fit. The darkness is not enough, so I added more powdered charcoal to the drawing.
To add highlights, I use this oval-shaped eraser to erase the part that the light hits on the drawing.
I like to do it like it has texture, so I pretty much go with the flow with it, and this is what it looks like close up.
The mess I made after, LOL I am so in the moment that I forgot charcoal pencil transfers easily onto the hand and arm.
Final shot, close-up.
