Hello, how are you? In a week, we are going to Baguio finally! We are supposed to go to Laguna, but because of the oil crisis, we chose to travel not too far. My cousin is having his seminar there, so he asked us if we wanted to go, and my mom said yes! LOL. I have places I wanted to go that I didn't have a chance to go to, so it is happening next week, and I am so excited because strawberries are a thing in Baguio, so I might buy some for sure, and I love walking lately, so that's what I am excited about.
As I said, this summer is the season of strawberries in Baguio, so today I am going to make a "donut with a twist." You know what I am saying? LOL. To make it different, I made a twisted donut, not the usual donut, and I decided to add a twist to it too by adding strawberry as a glaze.
Materials I Used:
- Polymer Clay
- Glass Sheet
- Weighing Scale
- Gum Container
- Clay Tool
- Needle Tool
- Toothbrush
- Soft Pastels
- Brush
- Eyepin
- White Sand
- Liquid Clay
- Tree Brush Tool
- Oven
- UV Resin
- UV Lamp
- Disposable Gloves
- Mask
- Pliers
- Keychain
Craft Time!
Condition the clay by kneading it with your hand, and then weigh it. This is an optional step, but highly recommended.
Roll the clay until it forms a thin line.
It should look like this, and then I fold it in the middle, but not to fold enough to make the end even, and then starting from the fold, I twist the clay.
Continue twisting until the end to form like the one I did in the photo. If you failed the first time, do it again.
I am going to use the needle tool to add texture to the clay.
Then I use the tree brush tool and a toothbrush to add more texture to it by tapping it lightly on the clay.
Then I place the clay onto a lid to add height to the clay and for easier access too. Then, using soft pastels and a brush, I added shade to it.
Keep adding shade until I add the shade perfectly to my liking.
Then I added the eyepin.
To add the sugar effect, I use white sand and press the clay onto it just enough to cover it.
This is what it looks like.
Then preheat the oven first and bake it at the temperature and time on the packaging instructed. Let the clay cool down before proceeding to the next step.
To add the strawberry glazing, I mix UV resin, white sand, and soft pastel.
And a hint of white.
Then apply the mixture only to the top part of the clay. This is what it looks like.
Then cure it under a UV Lamp for a few minutes.
To add the keychain, I put the jumpring into the eypin along with the keychain.
Then lock it using the two pliers I have, and done!
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
