Hello everyone!!! I am happy to post for the first time in this beautiful community. What better way to do it than participating in the contest for the celebration of the World Day of Peace.
There are several elements that symbolize peace, the white dove, the olive branch, but the one known as "Peace Symbol" or "Peace and Love", is one of the most used.
Its origin dates back to 1958. It was created by the English designer Gerald Holtom. Originally symbolized "Nuclear Disarmament". Its creator based his idea on the union of the letters N and D of the alphabet semaphore.
It was created for use at the first major protest of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in Aldermaston, England.
Its frequent use in protests against the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 1970s and its adoption by the hippie movement together with the slogan "Peace and Love" made it world famous.

My contest entry will be a version of this symbol with a decoration reminiscent of those times in the 1970s. Trying to bring to these days that much needed message of Peace and Love.

Hay varios elementos que simbolizan la paz, la paloma blanca, la rama de olivo, pero el conocido como "Símbolo de la Paz" o "Paz y Amor", es uno de los más utilizados.
Su origen se remonta a 1958. Fue creado por el diseñador inglés Gerald Holtom. Originalmente no simbolizaba el "Desarme Nuclear". Su creador basó su idea en la unión de las letras N y D del abecedario semáforo.
Fue creado para utilizarlo en la primera gran protesta de la Campaña por el Desarme Nuclear ocurrida en Aldermaston, Inglaterra.
Su uso frecuente en las protestas contra la guerra de Vietnam en los años 60 y 70 y su adopción por el movimiento hippie junto al eslogan de "Paz y Amor" lo hicieron mundialmente famoso.

Mi entrada en el concurso será una versión de este símbolo con un decoración que recuerda esos tiempos de la década de los 70. Tratando de traer a estos días ese mensaje de Paz y Amor tan necesarios.

We will need:
Corrugated cardboard of approximately 35x35cm.
Reused white paper.
Paper printed with floral motifs of 22x22cm.
Handmade paper
Molds
Pencil
Ruler
Cutter (one blade and one precision cutter)
Scissors
Acrylic paints (white, red, black)
Acrylic varnish
Brushes and paintbrushes
Necesitaremos:
- Cartón corrugado de 35x35cm aproximadamente
- Papel blanco reutilizado
- Papel estampado con motivos florales de 22x22cm
- Papel artesanal
- Moldes
- Lápiz
- Regla
- Cúter(una cuchilla y uno de presición)
- Tijera
- Pinturas acrílicas(blanco, rojo, negro)

First we will line the cardboard. We spread a generous layer of glue on the back side and put the reused white paper. We do the same on the other side but we will put the handmade paper. Using our molds we will mark and trace the elements.
Primeramente forraremos el cartón. Extendemos una capa generosa de pegamento en la cara posterior y ponemos el papel blanco reutilizado. Hacemos lo mismo en la otra pero pondremos el papel artesanal. Utilizando nuestros moldes marcaremos y calaremos los elementos.
We proceed to cover the exposed edges of the cardboard with previously cut strips of craft paper.
In the case of the peace symbol, before covering its edges, we must cover it with paper printed with floral motifs. The strips that we will use in it must be painted before, they will be red. The heart will be painted in the same color. The ampersand will be in black.
Procedemos a cubrir los bordes expuestos del cartón con tiras de papel artesanal previamente cortadas.
En el caso del símbolo de la paz antes de cubrir sus bordes debemos forrarlo haciendo uso del papel estampado con motivos florales. Las tiras que utilizaremos en él debemos pintarlas antes, serán de color rojo. El corazón lo pintaremos de igual color. El ampersand irá en negro.
Once everything is lined and painted, we decorate the heart. It has 3 white heart-shaped stripes that are concentrically decreasing. We give a coat of varnish and finally we put double contact tape on the back.
Una vez todo forrado y pintado hacemos la decoración del corazón. Lleva 3 franjas blancas en forma de corazón que van disminuyendo concéntricamente. Damos una capa de barniz y por último ponemos cinta de doble contacto por detrás.
Our design is ready to be glued on any support.
Nuestro diseño está listo para pegarse en cualquier soporte.
