Hello Hive
A beautiful new morning to us all, I hope that we have had a peace and restful night.
Today I want to share with the community how I made this beautiful golden color dress for my friend.
Due to the high cost of tailoring services people are often looking for a shorter means to get their outfits sewn and knowing fully well that I am a seamstress she decided to come along with some fabrics for me to sow for her while she is on a a 2days visit to spend the weekend with me. This is one of the two outfits I will be sewing for her.
Whenever people come visiting they get new clothes from me as gifts since that is so so easy for me to achieve. It is either I purchase new fabrics and sew for them is the relationship between us is a very close one but in instances where I don't the money to purchase new fabrics to sew for them, they come along with their fabrics. This way I can save them of the money needed to sew their outfits with other seamstresses. The cost of the services for sewing a single outfit now ranges from $3 and above depending on design.
To cut the fabrics I first of all studied the fabric and realized that it within the golden color of the fabrics it had some big round balls of brown and white color.
We can't cut the fabric in a distorted manner so i folded it in a way that the big round balls might fall into the middle of the design.
From there I cut out the front block leaving some allowances in between to create a flap.
Next I cut out the back bodice in a similar fashion with the zipper allowances
Then went ahead to create the flap. Picked some fitting straight darts to give the dress her shape and body contour
Then come back to cut out the necklines.
I turned the necklines with bias strip and joined the shoulder lines
Next I created some pleats at the lower end of the fabric and then moved on to fix the sleeves.
Unto the sleeves I inserted this elastic band and then the zipper was next.
I had cut some gathered sleeves before but since the fabric wasn't enough I couldn't achieve what I wanted with the sleeve
Having done all this processes, I have it a simple ironing and here is how it looks on her.
That's here checking out the dress in my workspace. The circle I had wished to keep it centralized didn't happen as the fabric keeps drifting while I was cutting the cloth. But I'm glad that she didn't complain much about the dress but loved the final outcome.
