In a bid to improve on my fashion designing skills I often look for opportunities to cut and sew new designs created by top fashion designers while working and putting together my own creativity to create my own own designs as well.
You learn from others and creatively create something of your own.
Ever since I have started sewing, I haven't made it a duty to sew this cowl neck design before so today I challenged myself to cut and sew one to find to see the outcome if it will be beautiful or if I will get this style properly.
Yesterday was needlworkmonday and after my project for the day, I didn't have enough of the pink fabric to make this top below.
Hence I purchased more of it.
And after using the amount I desired from it I had enough to try out this new knowledge.
Here I made a pattern using my measurements chest waist full length neckline of 3" by 2" for the back.
Next I used the measurements to cut my back pattern adding the hip line and knee length measurement.
Next I had cut a straight line from the bust point all through to the tip of armhole to create the space here that will be used to form the cowl.
Transferring this to my fabric I hand spread the paper through where I had cut the style line as shown.
That created an excess flow of the fabric in between the chest line that will fall to form the cowl.
Next was the sewing of the seam lines.
While sewing the neck, I added some paper stay to make the task easy since the silk fabric keeps folding.
This made it easy to sew and hence I joined the seams.
I had wanted to take some pictures in the armless dress but my friend was terrible with the camera
I had to ask her to pose in the dress so I can see the outcome of the outfits.
Thus I have challenges my self to learn something new today nothing my mistakes and how I can be more perfect when sewing a next cowl next design.
What do you think about my dress
