Hello Hive
We had one of the best weekends this week and well I'm suffering the aftermaths of the events. It's a sweet pain though 😃😂😁.
It's almost uncontrollable for me to attend a program and watch with folded hands when people dance and sing, especially when this talking drum right below plays you won't be able to hold yourself back from dancing.
And yes I'm so happy to belong to a choir, it's a fun-filled way to both serve God and find peace.
If you are a chorister that is yet to own the combination black and white outfits as part of the uniforms often worn in choir ministration you are totally wrong.
Most times choir often dressed in common uniform to differentiate them from other members of the church.
In most cases if we are looking for uniforms to wear, it is always easy to ask anyone to wear a black skirt on any other color of blouse. Black skirt and white blouse is the commonest outfit one can always keep in their closet for any uniform occasion. For a while I haven't had any presentable skirt to wear for these activities. Though I have a short skirt but we are not permitted to wear clothes above our kness that will expose our thighs or any sensitive part of our legs for the purpose of decency in church.
When this program came up for us to wear a black skirt and a blue blouse I thought that I could wear any of my skirts until the night of the event when I realized that I can't wear any of the ones I had. Fabrics shops have closed by that time of the night and I didn't have a choice.
The only idea left was to recycle this long dress into something useful and as a matter of emergency or unless I will have to give up the fun part of singling along with other.
First I took of the zipper off my strapless dress, laid it on the floor and followed any order of pattern that will give me a long skirt.
Next I was able to get some pieces together. Added some darts to the skirt
Continued stitching and fixed up a zipper as well and in that order I was able to convert a dress into a much useful skirt.
It was quite a hassle to achieve the desired length of the skirt and still see something as new as this.
I'm just so glad to have had fun at the occasion and very much grateful that I was able to make the sacrifice to sew a skirt with no power supply of anything that will have made the outfit better presentable.
Recycling doesn't just create more beautiful items, it makes them functional and the one just served me right here..I was able to wear it comfortable with my blouse.
