Hey beefriends, I hope everyone is well today. I haven't been feeling so well this week, but I managed to get off my duff and accomplish a few things last night and today. Last night, I made Nuada a kingly cloak:
That's a swatch I wove some time ago (if I recall correctly it's one of the macDonald tartans but I can't remember which one) for the fabric, a beaded necklace, and the two gold pieces holding the bead chain to the fabric are earrings! Hee hee. :)
Then today I started by repairing Yuan's fallen shelf:
So if you look at the top end of the white bracket, you can see what happened: the two white brackets that had been initially holding it up bent at the ends and it tore out of the wall. I didn't have any replacement brackets of the right size, so I made do with four tiny brackets and flipping the bent bigger bracket over so the bent part is sticking over the edge of the shelf (and I hung a dangly cat toy from it). So that bigger white bracket isn't screwed into the shelf at the end point, just the two screws at the corner - and the anchors I tried to put in the drywall weren't the best (I got three of them to work; the others just fell inside the wall - real useful, anchor pieces. Don't know who designed those); but hopefully with five less-than-perfect brackets, it's enough to withstand Yuan having the zoomies up the shelves.
When he does the zoomies up the shelves, it sounds like thunder, lol
And yeah, I've made all of Yuan's shelves. I do them piecemeal with scrap wood over time, as I acquire more brackets to put them up. There are more of them on the other side of the living room. :)
Then, I finally tackled this pain in my arse:
This is evidence of how many times I've had to move this over the years. This is the little piece that holds up my towel rack in the bathroom; after a while it just will not stay up anymore, and I have to move the bracket part to a new location where it will stay put. It goes from wobbly to "cannot stay up at all" and then I have to shift it over. As you can see, even anchors in the wall didn't help keep it still in the long term.
Woohoo, it will stay up now
So those were my accomplishments of the past two days. ;) What have y'all been up to?
