- The other day I was on my way home, but in the dumpster I found household items, sofa, table and this shelf, it is possible that it is a neighbor who is moving or bought new items for your home and left these objects for someone to use them or that the garbage hauler takes it, I was lucky to examine them first and when I analyzed the shelf in detail, I saw that it was with worn paint, dirty and with a high level of humidity, but still we can take advantage of it, so I took it to my home and decided to give a new opportunity to this object, besides recycling is very important nowadays.

- El otro día me encontraba en camino para mi hogar, pero en el contenedor de basura me encontré objetos para el hogar, sofá, mesa y este estante, es posible que se trate de un vecino que está en mudanza o compro nuevos objetos para su hogar y dejo estos objetos para alguien aprovecharlos o que el transporte de basura se lo lleve, con suerte logre examinarlos primero y al analizar el estante con detalle, vi que estaba con la pintura gastada, sucio y con un nivel de humedad alto, pero aun así podemos aprovecharlo, así que lo lleve a mi hogar y decidí darle una nueva oportunidad a este objeto además que reciclar es algo muy importante en la actualidad.

- First step: The first thing I did was to check for insects, especially termite, as we know that this type of insect can be an unwanted pest in a home. When I was certified that it had no insects, I took it to my home. The first thing we will do is to disinfect and treat that strong humidity it has, so with a treatment against humidity I sprayed all over the object and let it soak for hours. Then, with a cloth, I began to remove the excess and scrub in the darkest parts where the strongest moisture was concentrated. Now, before painting, we need to sand where we are going to remove the old paint and smooth the wood, which will allow us to paint as it should be painted.

- Primer paso: Lo primero que hice fue analizar que no estaba con insectos, sobre todo las termitas, ya que sabemos que este tipo de insecto pueden ser una plaga no deseada en un hogar. Al certificarme que no tenía insectos, lo llevé a mi hogar. Despues lo que haremos es desinfectar y tratar esa humedad fuerte que tiene, así que con un tratamiento contra la humedad rocíe en todo el objeto y lo deje en remojo por horas. Después, con un paño, comencé a retirar el exceso y restregar en las partes más oscuras en las que estaba concentrada la humedad más fuerte. Ahora, antes de pintar, necesitamos lijar donde vamos a retirar la pintura vieja y alisaremos la madera, que permitirá que logremos pintar como se debe.

Second step: The specialized paint for wood is varnish, it gives a shine and also color to the material; however, there are also other types of paint that you can use, but personally varnish is always the best option, so I asked a family member who had one to offer in a dark color, since to cover the imperfections it has to be a darker color. My father went to a store and bought me a small one with a very economical value in a chestnut color which is the perfect color I needed for this shelf.
Already with the varnish with me and a brush, I started to paint the whole shelf, always following the lines of the wood so that it would have a more natural look and we managed to disguise that it is a paint that we are placing on top of the natural wood. I had to do this process at least 3 times, obviously letting dry one pass after another. So this recovery took 4 days.

Segundo paso: La pintura especializada para la madera es el barniz, da un brillo y también color al material; sin embargo, también existen otros tipos de pintura que puedes utilizar, pero en lo personal el barniz siempre es la mejor opción, así que pregunte a familiar quien tenía uno para ofrecer de un color oscuro, ya que para cubrir las imperfecciones tiene que ser un color más oscuro. Mi padre fue a una tienda y me compró uno pequeño con un valor muy económico de un color castaño que es el color perfecto que necesitaba para este estante.
Ya con el barniz conmigo y una brocha, comencé a pinturas todo el estante, siempre siguiendo las líneas de la madera para que tuviera un aspecto más natural y conseguimos disimular que es una pintura que estamos colocando encima de la madera natural. Tuve que hacer este proceso por lo menos 3 veces, obviamente dejando secar una pasada tras otra. Así que esta recuperación demoró 4 días.

- I am very happy with the result, it really looks like I bought a new shelf, you can't think that it was collected from the garbage, besides that by recovering it, I managed to open space in my home, since my pet's objects were everywhere and thanks to this object my pet has a space just for his things. So my message today is that don't be ashamed to recycle things that we see in the trash. The planet will thank you, and with a lot of love and dedication you will have an object as if you had bought it in a store.

- Estoy muy feliz con el resultado, realmente quedo como si hubiera comprado un nuevo estante, no puedes pensar que fue recogido de la basura, además que al recuperarlo, logre abrir espacio en mi hogar, ya que los objetos de mi mascota estaban en todas partes y gracias a este objeto mi mascota tiene un espacio solo para sus cosas. Así que mi mensaje del día de hoy es que no sientas vergüenzas en reciclar cosas que logramos ver en la basura. El planeta te lo agradecerá, además de que con mucho amor y dedicación tendrás un objeto como lo hubieras comprado en una tienda.
