I hear some people relax on weekends. Spend time with family, go to the beach, go hiking. Us? We work like billy o on projects. Sigh. We love to dream life will be otherwise, then we say, oh, why don't we do this thing?
It's not so bad. Jamie usually cranks the tunes - loud, and wiggles his ass as we work. I love to see him move his body to music. He loses himself in the project and beats. Gah, I love him.
With the 75th Anniversary of Landrover coming up in two weeks, we have a bit of preparation to do on the Landrover. Of course it'd be fine as it is, but we want it to be better. The list was getting long and Jamie was getting overwhelmed so I sat down and write a list with him. The green checks are what we achieved this weekend.
- Storage box for roof rack
- Camp chairs
- Soft shackle
- CB radio
- Wiring spotlights
- Kickass shower tent attached to roof rack
- Sort out the slide out kitchen so it only has kitchen things and tools/recovery etc are on roof
- Tons of other little things
And then I went and said, hey, can we please do the cupboards because I'm excited about it? Jamie can't resist me being excited about something. I wanted them because on the last trip I thought it would be good to have some clothes within reach in the morning rather than have to make the bed first to access them in the storage box underneath.
The addition of this cupboard meant chopping the existing bookshelf in half, but to be honest, it ended up being half books and half random things like torches, USBs etc, which I found messy. In a small space you want things much neater as its calmer and give illusion of space.
I managed to keep my mushrooms too. Plus a couple of little ones in random places.
The shuffling of things to the box on roof rack had a knock on effect meaning I had more space for sauces etc like vinegar, tamari, sriracha. It's the little things. The under chassis storage box now has the pots and pans that used to be in the cupboard.
Oh, and I also got a shelf so I can rest my tea there in the morning when we wake up.
I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out. I found some little cardboard boxes that my knickers will go in too but that's totally another post.
Still, we did get a cycle in, I did two loads of washing, changed the bed, planted some silverbeet and kale, made curry and kitcheree for tea, and enjoyed a fizzy water in the late arvo sunshine whilst Jamie had a beer.
It certainly feels like we have achieved something today, as we say.
How was YOUR Sunday? Or your Saturday, if that's where you are at in the world?
