Hello everyone at DIYHub! I hope you're all doing well and ready to enjoy a new creative project. Today I want to share with you how I made a charming mini box using popsicle sticks and wooden skewers. This project is perfect for those who want to create something special without having to use a lot of materials. The idea behind this mini box is that, in addition to being easy to make, it can be ideal for storing small gifts you want to give to your loved ones. Whether it's for a birthday, an anniversary, or simply as a thoughtful gesture, this box is a unique and personalized option.
I don't usually do many crafts, but when I decide to get started, I look for something I won't just use once and then throw away. I want my creations to stay with me, whether as an ornament or a meaningful keepsake. Recently, I made a chest using popsicle sticks and craft sticks, and I showed you the process a little while ago. After completing that project, I had some scraps of colored popsicle sticks left over that I didn't want to waste. So I thought about making something different, something that wouldn't be the same as the chest. That's when I came up with the idea of creating a box. I had wooden popsicle sticks in shades of green and blue, so I decided to give the box a nautical or beachy feel. The idea is that when you look at it, it evokes the tranquility of the ocean. To add a special detail, I plan to include a drawing of a turtle, which will be something like a personal logo. Since I don't have any paint right now, I'll use a black marker to create the design. Although it won't be as colorful as I'd like, I'm confident the result will be attractive.

Paso nro 1
First, I started by taking the measurements for the base of the mini box. For this project, I decided to use blue wooden pallets, as I love the look of this shade. Using a ruler, I marked the necessary dimensions with a pencil, focusing primarily on the length of the box. I defined the width of the base considering that it would be the equivalent of three wooden pallets put together. Thus, I believe the size will be adequate and proportionate. This approach allows me to ensure that the box is spacious enough to store small items, but without being too large. Once I have the measurements, I will proceed to cut the wooden pallets.

Next, I marked the pieces that will form the sides of the box. It's important to mention that once I have the base made, it's much easier to measure the other pieces. Having a solid base as a reference helps me ensure everything fits perfectly.
Paso nro 3
Paso nro 3
First, I'll measure the length of the sticks I need to fit perfectly around the edge. Then, I'll apply glue to each stick and place it in place, making sure they're aligned and secure.
Paso nro 4
Paso nro 4
First, I'll take measurements of the sides of the lid. Then, I'll cut a wooden stick and place it in the middle, making sure it's centered. After placing the stick in place, I'll let it dry thoroughly. It's important for the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step to ensure the lid's stability. Once the stick is securely in place, I'll place wooden sticks in the remaining space of the lid. This will not only give it an attractive design but will also reinforce the structure. As I place the sticks, I'll make sure they're aligned and glued securely.

I also made the chest's hinges. To do this, I used pieces of cardstock that I cut about 3 cm long and not too wide, as I didn't want them to be too big. Then, I took a wooden stick and liquid silicone. I wrapped the cardstock around the stick, leaving a little excess. Finally, with the silver gel marker, I gave it a metallic finish. Once the hinges are installed, I'll test opening and closing the lid to make sure it works properly and that everything is aligned properly.
