Hello, welcome to a new post.
Bookmarks have become one of the best inventions for book lovers, and nowadays many people are dedicated to making them personalized with a creative touch. Now, it's not just about marking the last book you read; it's about giving that book its own personality, making reading even more exciting. Today I want to show you how we can make our own bookmark, of course with a creative touch, but made from homemade or recycled materials. This is my contribution to the #diysummervibes initiative.
- Piece of cardboard with a blank section
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Liquid silicone
- Colored pencils/markers
- Pencil and marker
- Yarn
Cut a piece of cardboard that will be a longer rectangle, because you fold it in half and glue it with silicone. I chose to make this bookmark with cardboard that had a blank side because I'm going to draw on it, but you can also make it with regular cardboard, though you would need to use paint or markers. Cardstock and foam sheets also work.
I started sketching, first in pencil and then with a marker. I decided to draw a sea turtle; it's one of my favorite animals, along with the dolphin.
I started drawing, playing with shades of green, turquoise, and blue, because turtles have a blue tone that blends with green. I also added yellow and brown to areas of the head and flippers, and a little black and navy blue. I thought it looked good, and the colors blended well. On the rest of the cardboard, I drew the water and added more details so it wouldn't look empty.
Using a hole punch or paper punch, cut two small holes, one at the top and the other at the bottom.
Cut several pieces of wool yarn, then place them in the holes, and tie a knot in them, and that's how it would be used as decoration. You can also add beads, like small seashells.
And there you have it, my bookmark is finished! Let me know what you think. If you liked the idea, I encourage you to try it and add your own personal touch. Thanks to everyone for visiting this creative post. I invite you to visit my blog if you like the crafts I make. I hope to see you soon! 👋
