Hello all craft lovers! For my anniversary with my boyfriend, I wanted to make him something special. After he mentioned to me that he wanted to have physical photographs of us, I looked for a way to do it, but in a compact way. That's how I found The Chinese Thread Book, a craft originally created to store sewing implements, such as needles. By making it with paper, you can add messages and in my case, small size photographs. I already explained the first piece, as well as the second. Today I will talk to you about the third piece, another one that is very easy 😉
To make this part, we cut a 20x20cm piece. We can use origami paper, old magazine paper or any paper we have available that is thinner than bond paper. In my case, I used kraft paper for this piece, which is usually used for drawing in charcoal and in other presentations, to make bread bags.
We proceed to fold the corners of the paper so that we obtain cross-shaped marks on it.
Then, we will fold the top and bottom part until the mark in the center, and then do the same with the side parts.
Leaving the piece unopened in this last step, we turn it over and proceed to make folds in the four corners, guiding ourselves with the marks on the paper. Obtaining some triangles.
Now yes, we turn the piece over again and open it. The new marks will allow us to push the new tabs that were made on the sides, as well as the upper and lower parts, managing to adapt as seen in the photographs:
Finally, we fold the four tabs so that the piece looks like the second photograph:
As you can see, this piece is quite simple. In terms of quantity, to make the book, we will need 4 pieces identical to this one. I recommend keeping them in a book, so that the paper is flattened while you make the pieces.
To finish with these tutorials, we would need to learn two more pieces, so to not make it so cumbersome, I think I will dedicate a post to explain each piece and a third post, to show the process of putting together the book as such. ¡Hola a todos los amantes de las manualidades! Para el aniversario con mi novio, quise elaborarle algo especial. Luego de que me mencionase que quería tener en físico fotografías de nosotros, busqué la forma de poder hacerlo, pero que fuese de forma compacta. Fue así como encontré El libro de hilos chinos, una manualidad originalmente creada para guardar implementos de costura, como agujas. Haciéndola con papel, se pueden agregar mensajes y en mi caso, fotografías en tamaño reducido. Ya expliqué la primera pieza, al igual que la segunda. Hoy les hablaré de la tercera pieza, otra que es muy fácil 😉
Para realizar ésta parte, cortamos una pieza de 20x20cm. Podemos utilizar para ello, papel de origami, de revistas viejas o cualquier papel que tengamos a disposición que sea de grosor más delgado que el papel bond. En mi caso, utilicé para ésta pieza papel kraft, que suele utilizarse para dibujar en carboncillo y en otras presentaciones, para elaborar bolsas para pan.
Procedemos a doblar las esquinas del papel de modo que obtengamos unas marcas en forma de cruz en el mismo.
Luego, doblaremos la parte superior e inferior hasta la marca en el centro, para después, hacer lo mismo con las partes de los laterales.
Dejando la pieza en éste último paso sin abrir, volteamos la misma y procedemos a hacer dobleces en las cuatro esquinas, guiándonos con las marcas del papel. Obteniendo unos triángulos.
Ahora si, volvemos a voltear la pieza y la abrimos. Las nuevas marcas nos permitirán empujar en los laterales las nuevas pestañas que se hicieron, al igual que las partes superior e inferior, logrando amoldarse como se aprecia en las fotografías:
Por último, doblamos las cuatro pestañas para que la pieza, luzca como la segunda fotografía:
Como pudieron apreciar, ésta pieza es bastante sencilla. En cuanto a cantidad, para realizar el libro, vamos a necesitar 4 piezas idénticas a ésta. Les recomiendo irlas guardando en un libro, para que el papel, se aplaste mientras van elaborando las piezas.
Para terminar con estos tutoriales, nos faltaría aprender dos piezas más, así que para no hacerlo tan engorroso, yo creo que dedicaré un post para explicar cada pieza y un tercer post, para mostrar el proceso de armado del libro como tal.
