Hello to all craft lovers! A few weeks ago I found out about this striking contest and although I wanted to participate, it was not until this moment that I managed to find the time, since I was involved in other projects, so even though I did not participate as such, here I bring you the result. What I am here to show you is a prototype accessory for a cosplay that I would like to do later. I call it "prototype", because it may be that I can do it again with more time and better materials, but before selecting this character as part of my cosplays in progress, I wanted to see if I could make the main accessory: The star-shaped head .
As we know The sun is also a star, so I thought that my accessory could enter as a contest entry, although, if it is not admissible, I will accept it without problem. The character I'm based on is called Sally Starlet and she belongs to a lost media project called Welcome Home. Sally is a star who one day decided to go down to earth to demonstrate her talents. She is a good screenwriter and actress, which is why she often acts as a director and guides the actors to tell fabulous stories. When I saw the author's art, I fell in love with his characters due to their design, especially their colors. I fell in love with Sally from the first time I saw her and as I usually do with the characters I like, I thought about the possibility of cosplaying her, even if it was simple.
Since I wanted to use recyclable materials or that I already had at home, I searched through my things and got to work. I got a box in a store and I opened it, drawing more or less the shape that I later cut with a cutter and scissors. I tried to make an opening in the center big enough for my head to fit through. Finishing with the cardboard, I cut some triangular pieces to attach them to the base piece, so that they protruded from it.
One of my motivations for doing this is that I had a gold metallic paper that I had bought a while ago, for a small craft, so I still had a lot of this beautiful paper left. The bad thing is that, although it is adhesive, its glue is not that strong for cardboard. Still, I managed to stick it. Obviously, the texture of the cardboard was reflected in the paper, thinking that a good way to avoid this would have been to place an extra piece of thinner and smoother cardboard, gluing it on top. But, since I didn't have it available and it was something I thought about later, it stayed that way ha ha
I also lined the triangular pieces and then glued them to the back of the central piece, using hot glue, for a better and quick adherence. If it hadn't looked so wrinkled, I think it would be perfect. I can even add a mirror in the center, if I no longer plan to use it later ha ha but the paper is extremely delicate and you're welcome, it breaks. It wasn't easy to hit it.
On one of my trips home, I also got a beautiful gold ribbon, which I never found a use for. So I decided to paste it in the area corresponding to the face and that's it. I already had my Sally Starlet headpiece.
I plan to add some ribbons in the back so I can tie it to my head, as well as perhaps put gold beads around the figure. It hurts me to make a new piece, so I'll see if by adding a few details, the wrinkles won't bother me anymore, after all, when I cosplay I don't look for perfection. Now all that remains is to get the fabric for the suit and it would be ready to shine at a convention. It's a pity that he couldn't do it with more time and better materials, but even so, I'm satisfied with having tried.

¡Hola a todos los amantes de las manualidades! Hace unas semanas atrás me enteré de éste llamativo concurso y aunque quería participar, no fue hasta éste momento que logré hallar el tiempo, puesto que estaba inmiscuida en otros proyectos, así que, aunque no participe como tal igual aquí les traigo el resultado. Lo que vengo a mostrarles es un accesorio prototipo para un cosplay que me gustaría hacer más adelante. Lo llamo "prototipo", porque puede ser que lo vuelva a hacer con más tiempo y mejores materiales, pero antes de seleccionar éste personaje como parte de mis cosplays en proceso, quería ver si lograba hacer el accesorio principal: La cabeza en forma de estrella.
Como sabemos El sol, también es una estrella, así que pensé que mi accesorio podía entrar como participación en el concurso, aunque, sino es admisible, lo aceptaré sin problema. El personaje en el cual me baso se llama Sally Starlet y pertenece a un proyecto de lost media de nombre Welcome Home. Sally es una estrella que un día decidió bajar a la tierra para demostrar sus talentos. Es buena guionista y actriz, por la que suele actuar como directora y guiar a los actores para contar historias fabulosas. Cuando vi el arte del autor, me enamoré de sus personajes debido al diseño de los mismos, sobretodo, sus colores. Sally me enamoró desde la primera vez que lo vi y como suelo hacer con los personajes que me gustan, pensé en la posibilidad de hacerle un cosplay, así fuese sencillo.
Como quería usar materiales reciclables o que ya tenía en casa, busqué entre mis cosas y me puse manos a la obra. Conseguí una caja en una tienda y la abrí, dibujando más o menos la forma que luego corté con un cutter y unas tijeras. Traté de hacer una abertura en el centro lo suficientemente grande como para que entrase mi cabeza. Finalizando con el cartón, corté unas piezas triangulares para anexarlas a la pieza base, de manera que sobresalieran de la misma.
Una de mis motivaciones para hacer esto, es que tenía un papel metalizado dorado que había adquirido hace un tiempo, para una manualidad pequeña, por lo que aún me quedaba bastante de éste hermoso papel. Lo malo es que, aunque es adhesivo, su pegamento no es tan fuerte para el cartón. Aún así, me las ingenié para pegarlo. Obviamente, la textura del cartón se reflejó en el papel, pensando que una buena forma para evitar esto, hubiese sido el colocar una pieza extra de un cartón más fino y liso, pegándolo arriba. Pero, como no lo tenía a disposición y fue algo que pensé después, se quedó así ja ja
También forré las piezas triangulares y luego pegué las mismas en la parte trasera de la pieza central, utilizando silicón caliente, para una mejor y rápida adherencia. Si no se hubiese visto tan arrugado, pienso que sería perfecto. Hasta puedo agregar un espejo en el centro, si ya no pienso darle un uso luego ja ja pero el papel es exageradamente delicado y de nada, se rompe. No fue nada sencillo pegarlo.
En una de mis idas a casa, también conseguí una hermosa cinta dorada, a la cual nunca le hallé un uso. Así que decidí pegarla en la zona correspondiente al rostro y listo. Ya tenía mi accesorio para la cabeza de Sally Starlet.
Pienso agregarle unas cintas en la parte trasera para poder amarrarlo a mi cabeza, así como quizás, colocarle mostacillas doradas alrededor de la figura. Me da dolor hacer una pieza nueva, así que veré si agregándole unos cuantos detalles, ya no me moleste las arrugas, después de todo, cuando hago cosplay no busco la perfección. Ahora solo falta conseguir la tela para el traje y ya estaría lista para brillar en una convención. Es una lástima que no lo halla podido realizar con más tiempo y mejores materiales, pero aún así, estoy satisfecha con haberlo intentado.
