A couple days ago, I showed you the signage I volunteered to make for our local community. If you haven't seen it yet, feel free to check it out HERE.
As mentioned in the previous blog, a barangay is divided into sitio and further into purok. I created a signage mentioning the name of our purok, but wasn't able to make for the sitio's name. So, I decided to make one for it as well as a signage welcoming people to our local community.
I had to make three different signages in one sitting, but I'm glad to finish it in just a couple hours. I couldn't take a lot of process pictures, but allow me to show you some of the stuff I could take pictures of. Let's start with the welcome signage above.
Since there are a lot of kids and not-so-young people in our community who are into anime like me, I decided to design the welcome signage with anime or manga in mind. As you see, I used a font which is similar to the Japanese katakana. Perhaps you can see on the paper above, I had the draft written.
I chose these two iconic figures because even if there are people who aren't into anime, they can at least recognize these two since they're huge stars even in my country. It was so funny when we put up the signages last time, the kids really enjoyed them and one teen even said, "Ate, why didn't you include San Goku?"
Next one would be the name of our sitio.
Our sitio's name is "Tabay" which means "WELL" in English, so I decided to draw a well on the signage as well. There are a couple wells in our community, thus the name... I think. Haha
While I was thinking of the design, I joked around with some of the community members that I'm going to draw Sadako's well. haha Good thing, it was rejected. lol
We're going to place this beside the door, that's why one signage has a well and the word "sitio" on it. On the other side, it'll be the word "tabay" and another kind of well.
Don't mind my mama at the back. hahaha She must be wiping the floor. Anyway, I really like the combination of bright blue and yellow. It's like the sky and the sun... so magically beautiful.
It's a much simpler well and it resembles one of the wells in our place. When we put up the signage, one resident commented "Ate, our well doesn't look like this... but I think having a roof above the well seems good." And so I replied, "Maybe it's time to renovate the well, too." It's a nice design, I think because it'll prevent leaves and other stuff from going into the well. :)
My glasses are about to fall!!! It's not the mask's fault... I just have a short nose. hahahaha Kidding aside, I'm done with the signages! Yaaaaay~!!!
We already put them up on our purok, but I'll show you the final thing on my next blog. We're doing the final arrangements and the like this afternoon. Finally, I can show you some pictures of the finished project the people in my local community worked together on.
I was not able to document on some days, but I'm so excited to show you how it looked before and after, so please look forward to it.
Anyway, what can you say about my signages? It was actually very fun to make and I feel very happy when the people in our community especially the kids appreciated it. <3
