Soon, we will be celebrating World Water Day, and in this way we want to make many people understand the need to protect and save this vital resource. This year's main theme is the protection of glaciers, because their safety is crucial not only for human communities, but also to save the ecosystems that depend on it.
For this reason I wanted to do something related to the marine ecosystem and it came to my mind to make a pencil holder that shows the bottom of the sea, with its algae, corals and shells that embellish this place. This way the colors and markers are kept organized, showing off a nice design using inexpensive and easy to get materials. I hope you like it. Hola, queridos amantes de las manualidades, hoy quiero enseñarte cómo hacer un portalápiz con temática de fondo marino. Próximamente, estaremos celebrando el día mundial del agua, y de esta forma queremos hacer entender a muchas personas la necesidad de proteger y ahorrar este vital recurso. Este año tiene como tema principal la protección de los glaciares, pues su seguridad es crucial no solo para las comunidades humanas, sino también para salvar los ecosistemas que dependen de ella.
Por esta razón quise hacer algo relacionado con el ecosistema marino y se me vino a la mente hacer un portalápiz que muestre el fondo del mar, con sus algas, corales y caracolas que embellecen este lugar. De esta forma se mantienen organizados los colores y marcadores, luciendo un lindo diseño utilizando materiales económicos y fáciles de conseguir. Espero que les guste. As a base for the pencil holder I used a recycled can, it can be any size you want, it depends on the amount of colors you want to include inside. Make a strip of the same height of the can with light blue foami, to line it completely and thus simulate the blue of the sea.
Como base para el portalápiz utilicé una lata reciclada, puede ser del tamaño que desees, depende de la cantidad de colores que quieras incluir dentro. Hacer una tira de la misma altura de la lata con foami de color azul claro, para forrarla completamente y así simular el azul del mar.

On thick cardboard, mark and cut out two circles with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the can to make room for the decorations. Then glue one on top of the other to give more height. With carmelite foami to line this piece on the top and sides, you can also paint it. Then place the can not in the center but a few centimeters more to one side.
En un cartón grueso, marcar y recortar dos círculos con un diámetro un poco más grande que el diámetro de la lata para que quede espacio para las decoraciones. Luego pegar una encima de la otra para dar mayor altura. Con foami carmelita para forrar toda esta pieza por encima y por los lados, también la puedes pintar. With foami of various colors we will make the seaweed and sea stars to decorate the seabed. I helped myself with some cutting dies that I bought, but if you don't have them it doesn't matter, just make the figures and cut them out with scissors. Then, with the cut out pieces, glue them all over the bottom of the can. The shells and conches that we collected on the last trip to the beach we glued them on the carmel base.
Con foami de varios colores haremos las algas y estrellas marinas para decorar el fondo marino. Yo me ayudé con unos troqueles de corte que compré, pero si no tienes no importa, solo haces las figuras y las recortas con una tijera. Luego, con las piezas recortadas, se pegan ubicándolas en toda la parte de abajo de la lata. Las conchas y caracolas que recogimos en el último viaje a la playa las pegamos en la base carmelita.

On a sheet of paper, draw the silhouette of a fish and cut it out to be used as a mold. Then mark and cut out on the foami in the corresponding colors. Join all the pieces together and with the markers paint all the details of the fish such as the eyes, the mouth and the lines of the fins.
En una hoja de papel, hacer la silueta de un pez y recortarla para utilizarla como molde. Luego marcar y recortar en el foami de los colores correspondientes. Unir todas las piezas y con los marcadores pintar todos los detalles del pez como los ojos, la boca y las líneas de las aletas.

I had the great idea of using a pipe cleaner to make a spring. This will give movement to the fish and it will look more attractive to the eye, plus when you touch it you will be entertained watching its movement. The kids will love this. I rolled the pipe cleaner in a pencil and when I remove it, it stretches a little bit. On one end glue the fish figure, and the other end glue it between the corals, on the other side of the can.
Tuve la gran idea de utilizar un limpiapipas para elaborar un resorte. Este le dará movimiento al pez y se verá más atractivo a la vista, además de que al tocarlo te entretienes observando su movimiento. Esto les encantara a los niños. El limpiapipas lo enrollé en un lápiz y al retirarlo se estira un poquito. En un extremo pegar la figura del pez, y el otro extremo pegarlo entre los corales, al otro lado de la lata.

With markers I made the details of the sea stars and with white paint I made little balls as if they were bubbles.

And just like that this beautiful seabed themed pencil holder is finished. I remembered some decals I had saved of little fish and glued two of them to complement the decoration, I thought they would look great. This step is optional, of course, although they can be painted or made with foami a little smaller than the one I showed in the procedure. I'm sure the fish with the spring will love the little ones in the house, so here's a way to make them happy and get a practical and inexpensive pencil holder. Here below I show you in motion. Y de esta forma se encuentra terminado este hermoso portalápiz con temática de fondo marino. Recordé unas calcomanías que tenía guardadas de pececitos y pegué dos para complementar la decoración, pensé que se verían muy bien. Este paso es opcional, claro, aunque se pueden pintar o hacer con foami un poco más pequeño que el que mostré en el procedimiento.
