I always have breakfast at home; I like to take my time and enjoy it. But sometimes I have to leave in a hurry, and I prefer to make a quick sandwich and take it in my bag. In those cases, I always use a resealable plastic bag, and it works well, although my bread often gets soggy.

So, today I thought about making a kind of bag or pouch for my sandwich, lined with a material that would better keep it fresh—not necessarily hot, but fresh. And for that, I decided to RECYCLE... I'll tell you more below... Welcome.

Siempre desayuno en mi casa, me gusta tomarme el tiempo para hacerlo y disfrutarlo, pero a veces debo salir muy rápido y prefiero hacerme un sándwich rapidito y llevármelo en el bolso. En esos casos siempre utilizo una bolsita plástica de cierre hermético y funciona bien, aunque suele pasar que se humedece mi pan.

Entonces, hoy pensé en realizar una especie de bolso o funda para mi sándwich, que tuviese adentro un material que mantenga mejor su condición, no necesariamente que lo mantenga caliente, pero si que se mantenga fresco, y para ello decidí RECICLAR... te cuento más a continuación... Bienvenidos.

The ideal material for the inner part would probably be something called "thermal insulation," but I didn't have any on hand. Then I remembered that powdered milk bags have a silver lining inside to preserve the product. This lining acts as a light barrier, a moisture barrier, and insulation, all of which is achieved when the package is vacuum-sealed.

However, I wanted to use the material I had and give it a try. So, this project has the added value of material recycling.

Seguramente el material idóneo para hacer la parte interna, debería ser un material llamado "Aislante Térmico", pero en este momento no tenía. Y recordé que las bolsas de leche en polvo tienen en su parte interna un material plateado para conservar el producto, que funciona como barrera contra la luz, barrera contra la humedad y es un aislante, y claro que todo esto lo logra cuando el envase es sellado al vacío.

Sin embargo, quise aprovechar el material y probarlo. Así que, este proyecto tiene el valor del Reciclaje de material.

• Cut off the sides of the milk bag you will be using for this project.
• Wash with soap and water. Let it dry completely.
• You will obtain a rectangle measuring 38 cm by 18.5 cm.

• Corta los laterales de la bolsa de leche que se va a utilizar en este proyecto
• Lava con agua y jabón líquido. Deja secar bien
• Se obtiene un rectángulo de 38cms por 18,50cms

• Cut a rectangle the same size as the bag, both from the outer fabric and the interfacing.

• Place the right sides of the outer fabric against the silver part of the bag.

• Place the interfacing rectangle on top of the bag.

• Pin everything together.

• Corta un rectángulo con la misma medida de la bolsa, en la tela para el exterior y en la entretela

• Enfrente derecho de la tela exterior con la parte plateada de la bolsa

• Coloca arriba de la bolsa, el rectángulo de entretela

• Fija todo con alfileres

• Make sure all 3 pieces are square using pins.
• Sew a straight stitch all around, leaving a seam allowance of approximately 9 cm.
• Trim any excess fabric, except in the seam allowance.
• Trim the corners diagonally before sewing.

• Turn the piece right side out along the unsewn area. Make sure to do this by catching the space between the silver lining and the outer fabric.

• Smooth the piece down firmly with your hand, and shape the fold along the unsewn area. Secure with snap fasteners.

• Snap fasteners can be used as a closure mechanism, but if these are unavailable, you can use Velcro tape.

Attach two snap fasteners to each corner of the flap and two to the pocket area, aligning them.

This sandwich wrap is ready; it's very simple and easy to make. Plus, it didn't take me much time.

Este envoltorio para llevar el sándwich está listo, es muy sencillo y fácil de hacer. Además que no ocupé mucho tiempo.

I loved the finish; the inner part with the silver-sided pocket seems very useful and can be used for personal projects. If you're going to make something to sell or market, then you should invest in the appropriate materials.

But for my personal project, it works very well. It's washable, and it seems to insulate against light and moisture and retain heat for a while, although I don't carry my sandwich in it hot.

El acabado me encantó, la parte interna con la bolsa en su lado plateado me parece que es muy útil, y que se puede usar en proyectos personales. Ya si se va a realizar algo para vender o comercializar, si se debe hacer la inversión en los materiales que corresponden.

Pero para mi proyecto personal funciona muy bien. Se puede lavar, si se siente que aísla la luz, la humedad y que puede mantener o prolongar un poco el calor, aunque yo no llevo mi sándwich caliente.

It feels great inside; I think if some sauce spills, for example, this wrapper will keep it contained, without risking getting the other things I have in my bag dirty.

Por dentro se muy bien, creo que si se derrama algo de salsa por ejemplo, este envoltorio lo mantendrá dentro, sin correr el riesgo de ensuciar las otras cosas que llevo en mi bolso.

Combining snap fasteners with a muted fabric color is essential to give the design a better quality finish and harmony.
