Greetings, DIY Hub Community! Today I'm very excited to share with you Box No. 2 from my Special Collection of Creative Packaging, for which I always provide the template as a GIFT. You can copy and paste it into a Word document (for example) and adjust the size for further customization. You can also paste it into Canva or other apps to add elements, names, dedications, etc.

This Box No. 2, called the "Pillow Box with Handle", is ideal for gifting costume jewelry, fine jewelry, a USB drive, lipsticks, hair clips—small items in general. It's also perfect for packaging small businesses, since packaging is essential these days for promoting brands or products and connecting with customers. Now, let's get to the DIY Hub... Welcome!

Hoy estoy muy emocionada de compartir con ustedes la Caja Nro. 02 de mi Colección Especial de Empaques Creativos de los cuales siempre dejaré como OBSEQUIO la Plantilla, que podrán copiar y pegar en un documento de Word (por ejemplo) y ajustar el tamaño para personalizar aún mas, aunque también la pueden pegar en Canva u otras Apps para incluir elementos, nombres, dedicatorias, etc.

Esta Caja Nro. 02 denominada "Caja Almohada con Asa" es ideal para obsequiar bisutería, joyería, un pendrive, labiales, ganchos, es decir cosas pequeñas, y en ese mismo sentido es ideal para Empaques de Emprendimientos, ya que hoy en día el tema del Empaquetado es fundamental para impulsar marcas o productos y conectar con el cliente. Ahora si, vamos con el DIY HUB... Bienvenidos.

As promised, here's the template for this box design. You can copy and paste it into Word or any other program you prefer, and adjust the size. As you can see, it's a single piece, and it has scoring lines or perforations indicating where to fold it later.

Lo prometido es deuda, aquí tiene la plantilla de este diseño de caja. Puedes darle "Copiar" y pegar en Word o el programa que desees, y ajustar el tamaño. Como puedes ver se trata de una sola pieza, y tiene unas marcas en líneas de trazos o troquel, por donde se deberán hacer los doblez en su oportunidad.

In this box I made today, I enlarged the template to fill almost the entire letter-size sheet. You can experiment and adjust the size until you achieve the desired result.

En esta caja que realicé hoy, amplié la plantilla hasta ocupar prácticamente toda la hoja tamaño carta. Puedes evaluar bien y experimentar, hasta lograr el tamaño que deseas.

The cardstock I used was some I had for bookbinding, with a star design:

• Copy the template design onto the back of the cardstock.

• Press a little harder with the pen on the inner marks of the design, where the folds will go.

• Press a little harder with the pen to mark the area for the box handle.

• Carefully cut along the entire edge of the box shape, including the handle area.

La cartulina que utilicé es de una que tenía para encuadernar, con diseño de estrellas:

• Copia el diseño de la plantilla en el reverso de la cartulina
• Presiona un poco más fuerte con el bolígrafo en las marcas internas del diseño, donde irán los doblez
• Presiona un poco más fuerte con el bolígrafo para marcar el área del asa de la caja.
• Recorta por todo el borde de la forma de la caja, y el espacio del asa con cuidado.

I want to show you this tool; it's a smoothing spatula that came in the box of a tablet I bought a while ago. Its function is to remove bubbles when applying the protective adhesive, flatten, smooth, etc. I really liked it and always kept it because it has many uses, even in pastry making, baking, with modeling clay, etc. Today I'm going to use it to neatly finish the folds of the box, but you can actually do this with many other tools, both specialized and non-specialized.

Quiero mostrarles esta herramienta, es una Espátula alisador que vino en una caja de una tablet que compré hace tiempo, su función es sacar burbujas cuando se coloca el adhesivo protector, aplanar, alisar, etc. Me gustó mucho y siempre la tuve guardada, porque tiene muchas posibilidades de uso, incluso en pastelería, en panadería, con plastilinas, etc. Hoy la voy a usar para perfilar bien los doblez de la caja, pero realmente esto lo puedes hacer con muchas otras herramientas especializadas o no especializadas.

To score the center fold of the box, I use a ruler and an awl. I run the awl over the fold twice gently, just to score it; you have to be careful not to pierce it. Then, I fold the cardstock using the ruler as a guide and my finger.

And then I smooth the crease with the tool I mentioned earlier, the smoothing spatula. This way, you get a clean and efficient fold.

Para marcar el doblez central de la caja, utilizo una regla y un punzón, lo paso dos veces y suavemente, solo para marcar, hay que tener cuidado de no perforar. Luego, doblo la cartulina usando la regla como tope y mi dedo.

Y luego perfilo bien con la herramienta que les comenté anteriormente, la espátula alisadora. De esta forma queda un doblez limpio y eficiente.

For the curved side folds, I used a curved ruler that I use for my sewing patterns. I tried different curves and found one that worked perfectly, so I scored it with the awl and flattened it with the smoothing knife. I flattened it with smaller movements since it was a curve, not a straight line.

Para los doblez de los laterales que son curvos, utilicé una regla curva que utilizo para mis patrones de costura. Fui probando las diferentes curvas y conseguí una que funcionaba o encajaba perfecto, así que igualmente marco con el punzón y aplano con la espátula alisadora. Para aplanar o perfilar lo hago con movimientos más pequeños ya que se trata de una curva y no una recta.

With all the folds made and neatly trimmed, we continue:

• Using a hole punch, make two equidistant holes below the handle area, holding both pieces at the same time to ensure they are even.

• Thread the decorative ribbon through and tie a bow. The bow can be tightened securely, as the box will open and close from the sides.

Con todos los doblez realizados y bien perfilados, continuamos:

• Con un perforador de hojas, se realizan dos perforaciones equidistantes debajo del espacio del asa, tomando ambas piezas al mismo tiempo para garantizar que queden iguales.

• Paso la cinta decorativa y realizo un lazo. Se puede apretar bien el lazo, ya que la caja se abrirá y cerrará por los laterales.

The sides are folded tightly, which can make opening the box a bit difficult. To avoid this, you'll need a cut that allows you to open the side easily:

• Using a hole punch, cut out 1/3 of the circle on one of the sides. This piece will be used on the inside, making it much easier to open the box through that cut.

Los laterales quedan bien plegados así que puede hacer algo difícil abrir la caja, para esto se necesita un corte que nos permita abrir el lateral sin problema:

• Con un perforador con forma de círculo, se corta 1/3 del círculo en uno de los laterales, y esa parte se usará para que quede del lado de adentro, lo que hará sumamente fácil abrir la caja a través de ese corte.

As you can see, I made the semicircular cut on one of the two side pieces, on each side. This shape can be achieved with scissors, but it's important to make it aesthetically pleasing, as it certainly enhances the design.

Como pueden ver el corte con el semicírculo lo hice con o en una de las dos piezas laterales y de cada lado. Esta forma se puede lograr solo con tijera, pero hay que tratar de darle estética, ya que ciertamente aporta al diseño positivamente.

This is what the box looks like from the side; you can see the name "Pillow Box with Handle" more clearly because it looks oval or slightly thick on one side. The fold always adds to the aesthetics, but if you're not careful, it can also have the opposite effect, so you have to be careful and neat.

Así luce la caja vista desde el lateral, se puede notar más el nombre de "Caja Almohada con asa) ya que se ve ovalada o gordita de un lado. El doblez siempre aporta estética pero si no haces sin tener cuidado, también puede aportar lo contrario, así que hay que ser cuidadoso y prolijo.

This box is the perfect size for small gifts, as I mentioned in the opening paragraphs of this post, and it adds a sense of security and protection to the gift. It's a beautiful design, and the cardstock design allows for any personalization you desire.

Esta caja tiene el tamaño ideal para introducir obsequios pequeños, como lo mencioné en los primeros párrafos de esta publicación, y le da cierta seguridad o integridad a lo que se regala. Es un diseño hermoso, y el diseño de la cartulina le dará la personalización que desees.

Easy to open, easy to close, this box design is simply beautiful. Of course, I've kept my template, and I use it whenever I need it; it's practically become an essential tool. I gave it to you, and I hope you put it to good use. I'm sure that when you see your first box made with that template, you'll treasure it forever.

Fácil de abrir, fácil de cerrar, es simplemente hermoso este diseño de caja. Por supuesto que tengo guardada mi plantilla, y la uso cada vez que la necesito, se convierte en una herramienta prácticamente.
