Hello lovely people of hive. You're all welcome to my blog.
As a crochet artist I barely have a crochet piece for myself. Don't get me wrong I've made scrunchies, ruffle hats, headbands and more. My sister and mum or some random stranger might admire it and I will just give it out. I'm not possessed 😅😅 it's just the joy i felt when people admire the work of my hands.
Recently, I came across a ruffle hat on Pinterest and I was immediately inspired to recreate the same colour combo. For myself. And I hope it stay long with me.😩
Today I will be sharing a step by step guide on how I crochet this beautiful ruffle hat.
Trust me it's a beginner friendly hat. If you have been coming across my post, I basically use the same process for the circumference of the hat.
MATERIALS USED:
- Yarn
- 3.0mm hook
- A pair of scissors
- And a measurement tape
*PROCEDURE:"
STEP 1: I made a magic ring.
STEP 2: I chain 3. (Stands as my first double crochet)
STEP 3:I added 11 double crochet (Total of 12DC)
STEP 4: To end the row, I made a slip stitch into the 3rd chain of the first double crochet. (ROW 1)
STEP 5: To start row 2, i chain 3. Then i place 1 double crochet in the same stitch.(2DC)
STEP 6: I place 2 double crochet in the next stitch.
STEP 7: I repeat 2 double crochet in each stitch across the row.
STEP 8: I slip stitch in the 3rd chain of the first double crochet to end the row.
STEP 9: Row 3. I chain 3. Then I placed 2 double crochet in the next stitch, 1 double crochet in the next and 2 double crochet in the stitch.
STEP 10: So for this row the increase is 1 double crochet, 2 double crochet, 1 double crochet. And I repeat that process across the row and slip stitch.
STEP 11: To start Row 4, I chain 3, then i place 1 double in the next stitch,
2 double crochet in the next stitch,
1 double crochet in the next stitch,
1 double crochet in the next stitch.
STEP 12: So in this Row, i repeat 1DC, 1DC, 2DC, 1DC, 1DC.
STEP 13: For row 5: I made another increase.
I repeat:
1 double crochet (I start with chain 3. Our first Dc)
1 double crochet in the next stitch,
1 double crochet in the next stitch,
2 double crochet in the next stitch.
I repeat that process across the row and I slip stitch to end the row.
STEP 14: Row 6:
1 double crochet (our chain 3)
1 double in the next stitch,
1 double crochet in the next stitch,
1 double crochet in the next stitch,
2 double crochet in the next stitch,
I believe you all already understand how this process works by now.
So I repeat this process across the row and end with a slip stitch.
STEP 15: Final increase.
I chain 3, in each of the next 5 stitches I placed 1 double crochet and in the 6th stitch I placed 2 double crochet.
I repeat the process across the row and end with a slip stitch.
STEP 16: Now I will be working in the length of the hat. No more increase. Just 1 double crochet in each stitch across the row until you have the total number of increases for your desired length.
STEP 17: Adding ruffles to a hat is the simplest and sweetest process. But sincerely you need enough energy. Especially when you get to the second row of the hat.
In each stitch of the row, I added 3 double crochet across and slip stitch. Then I chain 3, and repeat the same process (3 double crochet in each stitch).
Are you wondering how I mixed the colours for the ruffles? All I did was carry my white yarn along while working with the green yarn, and I carried the green yarn along while working with the white yarn so it was easy to change colours.
And yeah here is the result.
THE INSPO.
