It took a while to post this. Some time ago when my friend visited me last year before heading off to abroad for university. I always knew that friends in my school were only temporary as most of them would go their own separate ways right after college. This realisation was painful even though I knew that it was for the better. For the brighter future.
The guy I am about to write about is not only my dear friend but my very first friend in the school that I had attended! His name is Samin Yasar Khan. Smart, diligent, sharp, funny, and athletic as a monkey 😂. His arms were strong as a monkey too, very few people beat him in arm wrestling throughout school life. His family is rich but he was miser throughout🥲.
He used to live far away from my home and after college we didn’t get to do a hangout. The people in my batch and I were the ones who had received an auto pass, I was saddened that I wouldn’t be able to sit for the exam after all I was trying and doing well in college 2nd year academics. My first term was not as bright as this one. So, in the grand scheme of things, none of us ever knew that we would be attending the last days of college back in 2020. That it would be our last meet, our last laugh together, our last college day, our last chill together. We all went away as COVID was becoming a widespread issue. I thought that it would be dealt with as this was the modern era but boy was I wrong. I did have the hope that we would meet once, all of us together. Also, we never got a farewell party from college🥲.
Last year, in the end of December he decided to meet as his days in Bangladesh was nearing it’s end. He enrolled in a well-reputed private university in Australia. As soon as he informed me I asked him if it would be possible to meet. He was unsure first but said yes.
It was in the 22nd of December that we had met for the last time. We were 5 friends. I was close with each one here. I am the guy in the white hoodie. The one beside me is Samin. The one behind me is Dihan, beside Dihan is Erfan, beside Erfan is Ishti. We went back to School for one last time. Dihan here is aiming to go to another abroad university. This was where it hit me, this was probably the last time we would be meeting. As Samin, maybe, would visit in the end of December my other friend named Dihan would be in USA by that time. It would take a long time to do a good reunion. The realisation was brutal and with each passing hour in increased. I kept a solemn face through out though.
This was the hangout spot, was taken by Samin. Cheeky little bugger!
Later, we went to our go to place for hangout like the old days. It was a very cheap place yet every moment felt as expensive as hundreds of bitcoins😅. We were there for 7 hours. We talked about how we each were during our school days, who was more of an idiot, who got the most punishment XD. I wasn’t 😂. We talked about our coaching days, who saw what. All the juicy details about our crushes at the time, everything. We knew that it was our last meet so there was zero boundary that time. And it was quite a while since I had enjoyed this much, more than when I had gotten my PS4!
This was a candid I took XD. Got ew boi😂.
It was almost 9pm ish meaning it was getting late for him and he had to leave. For one last time, we all headed out to the streets like it was our own backyard. Each one hugged Samin and said their goodbyes, my friend Dihan shook our hands and he knew that it was his last meet with Samin. My other friend was tearing and so was I. We knew what would happen. Dihan took a rickshaw and went away. Ishti took his bicycle and pedalled off.
I and Erfan stuck with Samin and dropped him where his car was parked. We stayed there for a couple of minutes and hugged the monkey for one last time. We bid our farewells and went our separate ways. It was hard but I put my Bluetooth headphones and walked silently to my home.
His flight that was set to 24 December and was drawing nearer, I was to visit Samin at the airport. That idiot informed me that he was taking his flight was am one and not a pm. Fun fact: I had called him at such a moment where he was already in the plane, on his seat, about to takeoff. It was the final moments where his cell number was valid. I asked him to take care of himself and to be in touch in social medias. But that would not be possible as all of us would be busy due to our uni. We do play Warzone, well used to. Our semester keeps us accompanied 😅.
Next time we meet I’m sure all of us are going to have some extraordinary stories to share for one another. Till then, goodbye.
Thanks for reading.
