Attack of the Clones
No! This is not a review of the Star Wars movie, although I really like Natalie Portman! But this is something else. I was in a discussion with a few folks regarding famous perfumes and their clones or knock-off. Right off the bat this can be a controversial topic, but I am not interested in that. Personally I have many designer perfumes that I have used over the years, and I have now purchased and begin to use a few 'clones', and I must say, I am positively surprised. There are now legally marketed products that is 'inspired by' major famous brands, and the clones, especially the good ones are quite excellent!
First of all, I must say, I was not really familiar with this clone business at all. I mostly thought they are useless. I still think most of them are 'useless'! However, there are a series of 'legitimate' clones that are out there, and they actually have quite a massive following and excellent reviews. When I first heard this, I didn't really believe it. However, I was in the market for some summer fragrances, and I was thinking about Creed Aventus (not really for summer, but just because I wanted to buy it). So yeah, I did get a sticker shock, yeah, it is $445. Now I have used Aventus before, as a sample, and I enjoyed it, and I still have a bit left. But as I wanted to buy it now, a friend of mine said, STOP! Don't! There is nothing special about Aventus anymore! Look below!

I did! Man! What can I say?! Club de Nuit Intense Man, is markerted legally as a 'inspired by Aventus' (I learned that there are many actually! Surprise!), and is priced at $28. I am not going to say that they are absolutely identical (I have used both at the same time), but they are 95% similar. The only difference is in the opening, where Club de nuit Intense is a bit harsh and lemony, but that goes away in 2 min, and after that I don't smell any difference between the two. Longevity, Sillage and Projection on both is near identical. May I say, without getting killed, that perhaps Club de Nuit Intense Man is a bit better in Longevity on my skin compared to Creed Aventus!
For a fraction of a price, I must say this is no brainer! Aventus has that distinct Pineapple open, but very quickly it becomes this complex sweet, smokey, citrus summer fragrance. Our clone does the same, just opens with lemon but that's is gone almost immediately, rest is identical. Give it a try guys, it is perhaps one of the most versatile men's fragrance out there.
Guy Scents does an excellent job in the video below. He is funny, normal, especially these days if you are tired with watching anorexic Jeremy (honestly I can't watch him anymore!). I hope he takes a bit of rest from YouTube to be honest!
