The weather is not tolerable since the summer started this year. Recently the country already recorded the highest temperature in seven years! The problem is the temperature showing online 34/35 but feels like 40/41 and today I was out for office and walk under sun for five minutes and it feels like I'm burning on an oven.
At night, each night I feel like I'm swimming in my own sweat and sometimes blood comes from my leaps!
I have wrote about tree plantation and pollution factors for global warming in many post here at hive but today I would like to talk about a current object which has catch my eyes.
According to the research and findings of bloomberg we had the news of Methane gas of Bangladesh.
Since childhood we studied and knew Carbon Dioxide is the reason for the global warming and now I was reading the news of Methane which is 80 times more potent than Carbo Dioxide! Can you imagine, 80 times! Our problem is we are more concern about one thing but generally forget other aspects which could be worse than the main object we are dealing with.
Satellite image shows many places in the world and Bangladesh is one them. In Dhaka there is a big source of Methane gas which is liable for the recent heatwave.
Methane is one of the dangerous gas which more dangerous than the Carbon Dioxide liable for greenhouse effect and more than 80 times dangerous for the atmosphere! It is a smell less gas which helps to hold the heat comes from Sun and the earth become more hot as temperatures increases. We already know we are at high risk due to the global warming, there are many coastal countries which will totally or partially go under water and Bangladesh is at high risk of this situation. The problem is who it taking the responsibility and who is not.
The 12 highest methane emission rates detected this year by Kayrros SAS have occurred over Bangladesh, according to the Paris-based company, one of several that specialize in analyzing satellite observations to locate leaks. “It has the strongest sustained emissions we've seen to date where we can’t clearly identify the source,” said Stephane Germain, president of GHGSat Inc, which also picked up the plumes.
As this gas hold the heat it is normal where there will more of this gas you will feel more heat. Suppose, temperature 35° but it feels like 40° and you will feel like burning.
Currently "Matwyail" the waste zone of Dhaka city produce about 4000
kilogram of Methane gas and mix with the air which is equivalent of two hundred thousand car polluting the air.
The government of Bangladesh should take immediate steps to reduce this gas by proper action. Although, the city management took an project on the waste management but it has never come live. So strict action required.
Now I understood one thing for sure, only planting trees and reducing car or industrial waste will not help to reduce global warming but there are many other dangerous factors we should start work immediately.
