Bangladesh started making smart phones with the help of local world class company Walton. In October 2016, Walton started making smart phones. Since then, nine factories have been set up in Bangladesh.

World famous brands like Samsung have factories in Bangladesh. Those who produced flagship phones like the Note-20 last year. Samsung has been making their state-of-the-art smartphone series 'Note' in the country's factories since the early 2020s, which is a matter of pride for the whole of Bangladesh. This news has also been spread in foreign media. Samsung is now producing 98 per cent of its local demand at its Narsingdi plant.
The world famous Chinese brands Vivo and Oppo inaugurated the factory in our country in 2019. Unmax has done quite well, just as the domestic Five Star brand has found success in its own factory. There are also brands like Huawei or Motorola in the line of factory manufacturing in Bangladesh. Chinese tech: Giant Xiaomi is going to build their factory very soon. In just one year of its journey, two Chinese brands - Techno and iTel - have met the demand by adding their own to their factory. Walton is also meeting the demand of the country and exporting abroad. This news makes us proud.
At present, 72% of the country's demand for mobile phones is being made in our country. Now the name 'Made in Bangladesh' is flashing on the tag line. In just two years, Bangladesh has come very close to self-sufficiency in smartphone production. The companies of our country are also hopeful that it will be possible to supply the demand of smartphones in the market from domestic factories within this year. This is definitely good news for us.
Who can say that the way Bangladesh's exports have stood on garments, mobile handsets will not play a big role at one time? Everyone is talking about exporting from their respective factories. Not everyone can at least start the work in a couple of years, maybe this mobile device industry can become a tool instead of a day. Why only mobile devices, we also see the 'Made in Bangladesh' tag on laptops. This digital device is also being added to the list of exports, even if only a little bit.
