This is definitely an intermediate level job, so don't be discouraged if you don't crack it directly. All it takes is practice and perseverance. Below is a brief written summary of the main steps.
Happy drawing!
Self Vector portrait
Software: Adobe illustrator
Duration: 3 hour

Either way, the PEN TOOL you need to familiarize yourself with it.Throughout this drawing I use the main tool.
Stroke panel by going to Window> Stroke. It is very important to CHANGE YOUR STROKES to make your drawing look more natural You can see from the drop down menu what are the different options for stroke. I do this for many of my lines, as you can see from the picture below, it drastically changes the look of the stroke and it is very easy to do.
Use THE ERASE TOO shortcut to delete any overlapping layer. This allows you to clean the image and get rid of any size you no longer need. For the eyes, remove the excess color from the top of the lash line above. Then use (Ctrl + [or right-)click to send that shape back to the lash-line level using 'send back'.
For the lashes you can again use the Stroke Tool. First, draw some curved lines using the pen tool, then using the same method as before, change the look of the stroke in the menu (Window> Stroke). Choose a triangle shape that is thick at one end and taped at one point, this is what makes them look like the lashes of the eye.
SHADOWS are the ones that make the drawing come alive. To do this, trace dark areas of the face using the pen tool to create curved lines. It will take some trial and error, as it is important to locate these shades, but if you make noise you can always undo and start again.
THE EYEDROPPER TOOL will come in handy when you are drawing. For this part, use the tool to select exactly the same color for the nose, color near the eyes. To do this, select the shape you want to color, click on the eyeDroper tool (the letter I on your keyboard) and click on the shape of the color you want to copy. Now you can match different colors across the canvas exactly.
You can ADD FACIAL HIGHLIGHTS using the pen tool. But a simple method we have is the paintbrush tool (B). Simply select a light shade of skin color and draw in highlighted areas Usually on the cheekbones, nose and eyes are the three main places. You can also customize the opacity of the highlights.
Hair is composed of three main color groups; Mid-tones, highlights and shadows. The base color should match your model's overall hair color. The highlight is a little lighter and the shadows are darker. You can use the eyedroper tool (I) to select these colors from the original photos and apply them to your strokes.
