"This is where it is hidden" . The strange man said to charles. It kept ringing in his head. "It should be buried out there somewhere. Few knew it existed and even fewer know of its power". Charles hastened his pace. The knights were still chasing after him. He took a bend at a corner and found himself in his house.
His mom was the only one at home. Walking in would be risky, but he had to hide the holy grail. He got into the garage which was right beside his house and hid it there. He was panicking and didn't know what to do. If that grail got into the wrong hands then things would get really messy. That aside, he rushed to warn his mom about the incoming threats.
Charles walked into the house and checked his mom's room, no one. It was about 7:15pm, she must have been in the kitchen making dinner. Mom? Mom!? Mo….m. Charles was thrown into unrest immediately. There was blood splattered all over the kitchen floor. Mom! Charles cried as he kept shaking her to see if she'd budge. She was gone. He closed her eyes slowly. It seems like she died fighting. "Out of the city". That was what he saw in the cooking slab. It seems his mom kept a message for him. Going out of the city was definitely the best idea.
His dad had died the same way about three years back but before he died, he muttered something. " Son, you're the keeper. Protect it with your life as I did with mine". Now he understood. It all played out. The holy grail chose him and he had to protect it by all means. The knights must not have gotten too far. They look like royal knights, definitely from the palace.
Charles ran back to the garage to fetch the holy grail. He did. He fetched it and started running. When he got to a crowded place, he would reduce his pace and try not to look so tense. He was heading out of the city for refuge and protection. His whole family died because of the little bottle in his hand. He wasn't about to let their blood waste, he wanted to uphold their legacy.
Charles got out of town and headed to a small village which his mom had always told him about. He didn't know what to do or say, but he knew deep down that he needed to head to that village. He arrived at his destination but it looked deserted. It looked like no one lived there. "Hello! Anyone around?" A girl in her teens stepped out from behind. "Greetings, how may I help you?". Thank goodness! Charles exclaimed." I'm looking for your mother, mama Mia, I was directed here by my mom". "Mama Mia, who still calls her that? I'm sorry but she's not around".
The disappointment on his face was very visible. "Is there anywhere I could get to see her? She holds information of which I'd like to ask her a few questions. I'm totally blank. I don't know what to do young lady".
" I wish I could help you but mama Mia is not …..".
" I'd take it from here Lisa". Mama Mia interrupted. Lisa walked back into the house. The awe on Charles' face was funny. A mixture of awe and heartbreak.
"It really is you mama Mia! I'm glad I met you. I really need your help". She smiled. "I know you need my help. Your mom was the only one who called me mama Mia. I guess it's about the holy grail?". " Yes! Yes! It is." Charles retorted.
"It's a very powerful grail. A drop of it could cause one to be immortal and very powerful. The blood of the ancestors was mixed a long time ago in order to show a symbol of peace. If the grail gets into the wrong hands, severe havoc would be caused. As such, the king needs it and that is why his knights must have been chasing you. You are not safe here either. You have to run!".
Charles was overwhelmed by the whole story, so this little bottle had the key to immortality and a drop of it could bring so much change.
"Run son! You have no time to waste!"
Noises were heard from a distance, sounded like a troop of soldiers. "They've come for us. You need to go son! And one last thing, take my daughter with you. She's my only treasure and I'd love you to keep her safe, alongside the grail.
Charles took Lisa and started running to nowhere in particular. The king's knights came and slaughtered mama Mia in cold blood. They would stop at nothing. It was just him now. Lisa, the holy grail and Charles, the trio. He kept running as fast as his legs could carry. Running with no direction. The blood shed for the protection of the grail would not go in vain.
