The craze of the football world cup has begun, and almost all of us are experiencing it. From our social media to our real-life scenario, everywhere we get to see the arrival of a festive mood. Some are over-excited and some are neutral. Ah yes, I am in the second option, my excitements are somewhat neutral, not so hyped but yeah I will be enjoying this one for a special reason. Yeap, you can call me a seasonal fan because I don't watch club football matches throughout the whole year, I have friends who do so, I just have an interest in a great footballer whom I do like a lot, for his skills and personality.
I will be supporting Argentina, that's what I have been doing since my childhood and surely I will do the same as long as Lionel Messi is playing for the team. Yeah, I am a diehard fan of Messi. Maybe I don't watch club football regularly but I do follow all of his doing on a regular basis.
When It Started
Maybe 2010,2014, and 2018 are the years when I fully understood the craze of the football world cup and participated in it. I still remember that we had a big flag of Argentina, in 2010 my dad hung it over our rooftop. We were so excited at that time. I have an elder brother, in 2014 he had cut that flag in half because it was a very big one. And there were trees near our house so it would get stuck there but I was sad as it became shorter. Previously, it was more than 10 feet I guess, hehe. 2014 was the most memorable one, my brother was in a full craze, we had watched together, with the other football fans in our locality. Well, in 2018 he wasn't here, he went abroad so not that much excitement worked as he just flew away that year. No flags were waved, just the usual excitement, that's it. So you can say I started to support the team through my family and then I fell in love with my own conscience.
WC 2022
This year, it's very special for Argentina. The whole fanbase wants to see Lionel Messi lift this trophy, I would say it will be quite unfortunate if such a great player doesn't get the chance to embrace it. He will be doing his best, and he is worth it, but football is not the game of one man army. Teamwork is a must and this year, we are quite confident in the performance of our team's situation and rhythm. We are hoping to make it ours. Well, after a lot of hassle and uncertainty, I got my jersey, hehe. There is a huge demand for jerseys this year, sellers are finding it hard to cope with the demand, their stocks are running out pretty fast, and excitement among the fans is at its peak this year.
Do you know what makes me sad? Seeing toxicity over this topic. Healthy debates are accepted but when it gets beyond the fine line are completely unwanted. Have seen many who find their most joy through trolling the opposite.
Argentina is going to start their WC2022 mission today against Saudi Arabia, we are hoping for an easy win. So what about you? Which team are you gonna support? Wish you the best, and let's hope for an enjoyable world cup.
