The Alchemist
-Paulo Coelho
This book was written in mystery genre. It shows how a shepherd boy followed his dream in search of a treasure he dreamt in several night. He was a boy of freedom who had a flock of sheep and visits here and there. So after knowing an explanation of his dream and meeting an old man who was a king he started his journey for the treasure which he dreamt of. In the cost of his sheep flock and a promise to give one-tenth of the treasure to a gypsia women on tarifa. He gone for the Pyramids where he has never been.
In that new land even he got robbed from where he could stopped following his dream but he didn’t. He worked in a crystal merchant shop for a long time to make his dream true and went again on his way listening to his heart. In the way o journey to the treasure he felt in love with a girl in desert and at that time he had enough gold coins to live his life peacefully without going for the uncertain way to the treasure leaving behind the girl he love….
Will he stopped there or keep moving was an interesting question on that time. His way to the treasure was not only an adventure but also a great lesson for the readers. Well i don't know well how to review a book but this one is not just about reading it like a story and pass. It has a lot lessons to learn. I have given a short overview of the book, if i try to write more on the story i may end up giving spoiler. So now moving forward to the things which i learnt from this book.
"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." this line is taken from the book which was said by the king as old man. Truly it is. Even in the novel while the shepherd was moving towards his dream to get the treasure he was getting hindrances one after one. But there was always something which kept him on the track of his dream. Anyhow he was getting distracted, he was able to regain his will and capability to move on towards his dream.
"Love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny. If he abandons that
pursuit, it's because it wasn't true love"
In our life often we seems to encounter a situation where we need to choose among our love and career or dream or anything you may think of. If today you are sacrificing a precious thing like your dream for the sake of love may hunt you in the long run of your life that why did you do that. Sometime you could think of a simple way on thinking of why taking an unnecessary risk of getting more on the sake of something. This decision may give you satisfaction for now but is going to hunt you down from the inside after a period of time. So if your love is true then no decision of yours is going to break that down.
Because now he knew where his treasure was. From where you started, ended up going there. Those who have read it will get the meaning of this line. I am not destroying the fun so being quite on this.
""Listen to your heart. It knows all things," Yeah, always listen to your heart. It will never betray you.Whenever he encountered any kind of dilemma he tried to find the solution through his heart. So we should do too. Because our heart always shows us the right directions which brings satisfaction in our life. So always listen to your heart.
Well, i am not a good book reviewer. I seldom read books of my interest and this one was suggested by , thanks bro. I tried to give an overview of the starting of this book and mostly written about what i have learnt or was the key points to focus for me. Even you can say these lines are still stuck in my mind after reading this one. So overall it was a very good one to read. I really enjoyed this one. Thank you for your time.
