This is an intriguing post. I was just another kid on your block who lived off their parents' money. Every other day, my parents screamed in my ear, "Why don't you study hard? Or do something better? These games won't take you anywhere; We can't afford you to play or go in gaming championships" (My grades were ordinary, and I'm just too lazy to study for good grades because I've always found textbooks very dull.) 18 hours of gaming every day. I know it's terrible for anyone, but I used to enjoy it, and anything I love; becomes an addiction to me! Which, depending on how you look at it, might be either a good or a negative thing. Despite my familial turmoil, I agree that I was an irresponsible child. I used to undertake little freelance work based on my needs. Animation projects for various companies, freelancing for someone else, promotional materials for my band, and a few logos here and there! Even if you are not paying attention, things will accumulate.
A New beginning
My great friend unexpectedly appeared out of nowhere with an idea, "Yo! I'm thinking about social media, which can work instead of internet addiction. In no time, we'd be millionaires. I want you to be a part of the team." I was thinking, "Sure thing! I'm paying attention. Let's get started." I've always had a positive attitude and enjoy making friends with those with a different perspective.
We discussed many concepts for creating a system where people may communicate offline rather than relying solely on Facebook messaging. Plan execution is opposed to simply making new plans and then forgetting about them. It was a fantastic method; we had so much to do, from branding logos to promotional campaigns, and with only three individuals working under one roof, we would stay awake all night working toward one goal. So many trials and tribulations. UI design that would appear to be years ahead of its time, promotional materials that would set the bar high.
We also produced an outstanding campaign during the Fifa World Cup 2018, and many people signed up for it. Successful advertising in several areas throughout the city. The method was to establish an event through our app and use the signed token to claim discounts in the respective locations; for the campaign, we targeted many restaurants across the city. I'll leave a few assets below so you can check out our incredible campaign.
The campaign was a success, and we even made a few dollars. As we prepared for the next phase, which was seeking seed capital, we completely redesigned the brand. You can view the most recent Meetium brand identity HERE! Unfortunately, we could not secure funding for this project because most investors deemed it too risky and unsuitable for this country's norms. In the meantime, we steamed off and began working on several side projects. While we were still racing around the city holding meetings with various investors and CEOs, still hopeful, we had to manage our finances.
A Turn-Around ⚠️
Around Bashundhara R/A, there is a one-of-a-kind exquisite dining establishment called "El Dorado Revised" (a residential area in Dhaka City). The restaurant owner was frustrated with the management and wished to improve for him. We brilliant 20-year-old intelligent kids thought out the problem to its core and debated how we would design this location if we had the option. We tried to preserve the fine dining since we understood the importance of a quiet and classy dining experience; nevertheless, we wanted to do something different. The venue was pretty vast for that, with so many terrible designs all over and so much wasted space. So we devised a strategy for rebranding the entire concept. I established an entirely new brand with the assistance of my team, and their guidance through every step of this journey was a pleasure.
The Emergence of A New Brand ⭐️
We launched a completely new brand called "Beatles Café," named after the famous rock band "The Beatles." With the unique French-inspired style of Beatles Café, the front part of the fine dining restaurant was wholly transformed by this. The branding must be straightforward and modern for it to become an iconic location for young people; we conceived it and achieved it. Seeing that excellent plan and craft come to fruition was an experience I can't put into words.
The day this café opened, I just sat there and reflected on the entire process, what we envisioned and what came to fruition; the results spoke for themselves. You could say that I am still proud of this project and will always be! If you live near Bashundhara R/A, you can still find it near "Urban Void Food Court," Bashundhara R/A Gate. The most excellent part of this café is sitting with a friend and sipping a fantastic Americano while smoking and listening to wonderful music. Oh! Please don't worry about the smell because we designed it to be comfortable even when you're smoking, and the air conditioner is switched on.
An overhaul of A Brand ✂️
Well, we didn't forget about El Dorado. Right after we were done with the café, we reinvented the dining experience with a unique brand identity you can see HERE! Everything was reinvented, from the inside out, from a paper clip to a wall! We even worked on hygiene and established a new standard for people to enjoy and feel safe about consuming. It was yet another great project; the creative freedom and faith provided a drive that not everyone receives in their work life.
And So It Begins 🎬
Within a year, I went from being a careless youngster to a passionate designer, and I gained a love for my work, and my enthusiasm turned toward it. After that, I started getting more requests for different projects, and I worked with beautiful businesses and big names all across the city. Nothing but creation after creation. It's the one thing you need in your life to kickstart that drive. It comes as a blessing, and if you want to perform better, you must embrace it and work toward it. There is no other option. I'm in the big leagues now, but I still believe I have a long way to go. So many mountains to climb, and then to the moon! 🌑 🚀
