26 January is a day of glorious joy to every Indian. 74 years ago today our Constitution came into force after a long and bloody freedom struggle. We finally achieved independence on 15th August 1947. Even after independence, the constitution was not implemented in India at that time.. It was necessary to govern the country properly. That's why a drafting committee was formed under the chairmanship of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on 28 August 1947 to make the constitution. On nov 4th 1947, a constitutional draft was submitted to the Constituent assembly. Some amendments were made to the constitutional draft before it was finally adopted, which took two years, eleven months and eighteen days to complete. A total of 166 sessions of the Constituent Assembly were called to discuss this draft of the constitution. Public were allowed to join all of these sessions. A total of 308 member, headed by Dr. B. R Ambedkar, were responsible for drafting this constitution.
Source After many debates and amendments, the draft constitution was finally signed by the 308 members of the Constituent Assembly on 24 January 1950. Two days later, the constitution came into effect all over the country. This constitution of India is the supreme law of the republic of India. It is the largest handwritten constitution in the world. Indian constitution is written in two language one is English and other is hindi. This constitution lays down a number of rules including the formation of the government, their functioning and power, fundamental rights and duties of the people and the administration of the state. This constitution declares India a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic state. The constitution has 448 articles, 12 schedule, and 113 amendments in 24 parts. Republic Day is celebrated every year all over India. We start this day specially by hoisting the national flag and playing the national anthem, followed by various cultural programs throughout the day. On Jan 26th, every year, India organize the parade, in which army, navy, and airforce personnel participate and show their strength with modern weapons. Cultural aspects of all regions of India are also displayed through tableau. Republic Day inspires us to maintain the unity, equality and pride of our nation and perform many devotional duties in the days to come and take the country forward together.
