Bangladesh has turned down India's 8 + 8 unit Tejas offer under 500 million military assistance. In the meantime, a number of military types of equipment for the Bangladesh Navy have been shortlisted. Under the Make in India, Made in India program, India considered Tejas to be a big market in Bangladesh.
However, on behalf of Bangladesh, it is said that Tejas is not "compatible" for Bangladesh. On the other hand, neither Tejas nor JF-16 platforms are likely to come to Bangladesh. Although Russian and European platforms have been shortlisted, no decision has yet been made, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told a news conference yesterday.
Note that the tender for multi-role combat aircraft was published in 2016. At present, the aircraft will be procured through G2G. Rafale could be a good competitor if it could offer new and old aircraft like Greece. Besides, the Russian option could not be blown away.
