It's wasn't intentional but I let my guards down.
I think I was a little not so serious with my studies.
I was a newly transferred student. My parents thought I should be transferred to a new school since the former one was a little too far for me.
I didn't like the idea and I really didn't like the new school either but I had no options.
My parents were the ones paying my tuition fees so telling them you don't like the school is liking telling them you don't wanna go to school at all.
My first attempt to blackmail them didn't work out so fine, so I just gave up on the second trial even before I even started.
I got to school, made a few friends that were serious about their studies.
I don't like dummies sorry to say, or rather I don't associate with dummies or people who didn't take their studies seriously.
I met one friend I liked so much, she was a bit too coordinated and too serious and strict. I didn't mind, I just had my way into her space hehehe. We became friends and a good one.
We encourage each other to study, she always had my back, likewise I.
I learned she never came 4th before in class and here I had settled in 5th before. My parents said the class I found myself in was a little competitive but I knew that wasn't the case, I was just a little carefree about my positions in the school.
Leaving nursery school level felt like selling my top position to them and when I got to high school I didn't care any less about taking 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Anything in the range of 1-10 was fine by me.
Hello, that changed when I changed high school. The friend I met always fall between 1st to 3rd position and I can't be friends with such a person and remain carefree about my studies and scores in school. I had to go pick up from where I left off in nursery level.
I was still scared a little. What if I couldn't meet that standard again? What if it never comes back?
Well, I had to try anyway.
Before the term ended, our school promised to award students who would make it to the top 3 for each class and section.
For some reason, I already knew I wouldn't make it.
First I was a newly transferred student, so I couldn't stand the chance.
At the end of the school term, the names of the top 3 students were called out to the stage.
When they got to my section, I almost peeped in my pants, not really because I was expecting to hear my name but the anxiousness was just there. They called out the first person who came 3rd like they always do, and when the 2nd person was called, I couldn't believe my ears. Everyone turned to look in my direction, with doubts registered on their faces, no one expected the new girl to be among the top three, I didn't even expect it either.
I matched out ridiculously to the upstage 😁😄
And then the next section was that of my friend, she came 2nd as well.
She was in a different class section and I was in a different one too, but we both came 2nd. We were so happy for each other, we went home happy especially the new girl ME 😁😂
Sometimes all you need is a good friend to spark up your greatness and potentials.
Associate with good people that add value to your life and not those that subtract from you
