The holidays are over. There are no more parties, and the leftovers have all been eaten. It's time to check the backyard for something to work on.
Time flies during the holidays. I was surprised to see that the jackfruit buds I checked last year have already grown into large fruits.
I checked to see if there were any fruits ready for harvest, and one in particular caught my attention.
This fruit had visible cracks on its surface, and the sweet aroma was overwhelming. It was clear that it was ripe and ready to be picked.
I have one small but significant problem. When I tried to lift the fruit, I found that it weighed around 15 kilos. I was home alone since my brother had gone to work, and if I waited any longer, insects and rodents might feast on the fruit because of the cracks in its surface.
I need to bring the fruit down today without damaging it. So, I checked my available resources and prepared to remove the 15-kilogram fruit from the tree.
I checked for available ropes and found the paracord my brother used for his outdoor activities. I was glad to see that the scaffolding he used to install the solar lights was still sturdy enough to hold my weight. With these resources, I set out to complete the task. I securely tied a loop around the fruit and then tied the other end to a branch of the tree, making sure it was just tight enough to suspend the fruit when it was cut off.
I gently lowered the fruit onto the plastic chair below. I felt proud of myself for completing this task. Afterward, I covered the fruit and waited for my brother to arrive.
When my brother arrived, we brought the fruit inside. Since we couldn't eat it all at once and it might spoil if we kept it in the fridge, we decided to cut it into three portions: one for our aunt, one for his father-in-law, and one for our household.
That's all for now! Thank you for taking the time to read my post!
