The village looked lovely on my walk today. We are having a mini heatwave at the moment, so it was nice to get outside and enjoy it while the sun was shining. I think the hot weather is due to break up after today.
One thing I noticed straight away was how much cow parsley is growing behind my village shop. It looks nice and wild. Because it is 'No Mow May', my local council are leaving many areas to grow naturally to help wildlife and insects.
To be fair, this part of the village is usually only cut once a year anyway, but it still looks nice to see nature left alone for a while. It looks so much prettier when it's left alone by humans.
There were also lots of daisies growing in the grass around the village lido.
One of the nicest sights was a moorhen standing on the angler's platform, enjoying the sun. It did not seem bothered by me walking past. Normally, they are quite shy and skittish.
Sometimes the simplest walks are the best ones. With flowers blooming, and the ponds sparkling in the sunshine, the village felt full of life today. It's too bloody hot, though!
