Hey, hivers! I hope you're well. The past month for me was not so good so I am writing this post because, as this community says it all, it makes me "feel good". Sharing to you something I love makes me happy and light and definitely changes the narrative I've been dragging along since typhoon Rai happened (very negative narrative, that is). Today I'd write about why I love dressing up (hope the title isn't so obvious lol). Kidding aside, let's jump right in.
Like most stories of why someone loves something, it's the same for me I guess: I just woke up one day and enjoyed choosing my outfit and strutting in them. π That's the short version. The long story is the one that involves having fashionable sisters who have inspired me to dress up and be girly. (Full disclosure: Countless of times I borrow some of their clothes with or without permission lol. Perks of having fab sistahs haha)
One of the reasons I love to dress up is that it boosts my confidence! Some people would describe me as a confident person, even overconfident (few instances, yes) because I tend to be so loud and so sure of myself. This is their POV. As for mine, whenever I go out and I'm dressed up, I feel good and this feeling like "I can take over the world today." This thought though is no surprise because research shows that indeed when a person looks good and feels good, it generally affects his/her mood and behavior. To support this, when I'm not "dressed up" because it's a sudden errand/task that I needed to attend to, I notice that I do not feel as confident, and I think about wanting to change what I'm wearing. WEIRD. I know. It is. I guess the exceptions would be whenever there are emergency situations, like the recent Odette calamity. During the errands post-Typhoon Rai, I did not really care what I wear, since it's a "Do or Die"/ survival life mode.
Another reason I love wearing OOTDs is that I get to become "a whole new person" and "choose a character" for a day. I love drama and I love theater. I kind of like acting. (I should've been an actress HAHA). But this does not mean I do not love myself, a disclaimer, okay? It just means that I am so sure of who I am that I don't mind being "in a character" for a day. I like it when I wear a dress or top and jeans and I feel like I'm this cool chick from a chick flick who likes to bug her officemates with her drama and non-existent ex-boyfriend. Sometimes I get to be a Korean-for-a-day and the people I talk to suddenly speaks English. (True story. And couple of instances, too.) Then there's a time when I wear a sundress and I imagine I'm the sweet protagonist in a rom-com, about to go on a date with her man. And don't get me started with what I see when people look at me wearing my big black boots (I wear boots often these days, the one photo below says it lol). ((PS, and why I love boots? That's a whole 'nother story haha!))
I enjoy wearing OOTDs as much as I enjoy planning what to wear the day before. Is that weird? Haha. I guess we all have our weirdness.
It sparks joy in me. And I'm happy when I dress up. Sometimes people look at me and they have this look in their eyes that says "this girl dresses up like we're not in the Philippines, it's so weird" kind of look. Haha. But I don't mind them. As long as I'm not hurting anyone or I'm not stepping in someone's shoes, I'm good. Other people's opinion of me does not necessarily have to become my reality.

I love long dresses, they're so chick.
