“Holy Week, a sacred journey from sorrow to joy, from death to life.”

Seven Temples
Last Friday, as part of the activities and traditions of Holy Week, I made the pilgrimage to the seven churches, an ancient Catholic tradition that is very popular in many Latin American countries, as well as in certain regions of Spain and Italy.
It takes place on the afternoon of Holy Thursday or the morning of Good Friday, and is said to have originated in Rome in the mid-16th century, representing the spiritual accompaniment of Jesus on his journey from the Last Supper to his crucifixion on Mount Calvary on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
That morning I left my apartment early to make the pilgrimage, and although at first I wasn’t quite sure which churches I would visit that day, I got in my car and drove to the city center to a beautiful basilica with a striking neo-Gothic architectural style, where I began my tour.
After that, I walked to the cathedral, located just a few blocks away, and then, on my drive back home, I managed to visit other churches along the way until I had visited my seventh temple, which I managed to enter just a few minutes before it closed its doors to the public.
As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.
