Today while I was coming to the office in the Metro, I overheard the conversation of 2 ladies sitting next to me. I didn't intend to overhear their conversation but I happened to because they were a little loud. The conversation intrigued me to an extent that after around 10 minutes, I got up to take another seat.
The two ladies looked very professional in their attire. But the conversation they made kind of made no sense to me. I don't want to be biased or judgemental here but from what I heard in those 10 minutes, I was completely shocked to see where our peers are heading.
So these ladies were talking about how the political leader are taking our country in a wrong direction, how they are leading us to wars and destruction, and how they are prioritizing their personal agendas over the nation's agenda. All of that was ok, people have their own political views and no politician is ever good in the eyes of the population. But it kind of became disappointed when I heard one of them saying "You know, xyz wanted to join state politics. I told her, are you mad. Don't you have stuff to do at home or your job is not paying you well enough?"
At that point, it struck me that it's so easy to put the blame on others' shoulders and sit back and crib, mentioning their failures and bad work. But when it comes to taking the pressure and authority in our own hands, we quietly walk away. We blame the leaders for putting our nation into a bad shape, but what are we doing for our nation. These leaders are still working day in day out (even if it's meant to be just shown to us). They are giving away their social and family life, they don't party like us, they can't go and watch movies like us, they can't go to malls and shop like we do. They are doing their own sacrifices while we are sititng in the metro and gossiping about them.
I don't mean to favour the politicians here, I am not in favour of them either. But my point is that we are no one to comment unless we ourselves step forward to make things better. We can't just put the blame on them. They are citizens of the nation and so are we. We all share equal responsibilties. And we are the ones who have voted for them so they get to take actions and decisions. If we don't like them, we just can't sit and talk about it. Actions must be taken.
Talking about myself, I am also not doing much for the nation. I do try to be a good citizen and abode by the law and order but that's my responsibility. It's not a step ahead to make this nation a better place.
This blog is to enlighten the folks. May be it's time we take the power in our hands and try to make this place a better one.
