Paso por aquí a compartir con ustedes una salida en familia a uno de mis lugares favoritos de Georgetown, Guyana: el Giftland Mall.
Ubicado exactamente en: 1 Plantation Pattensen, Turkeyen, de la capital guyanesa, este centro comercial nos ofrece una variedad infinita de servicios y entretenimiento.
Desde comida, chucherías dulces, helados variados, ropa, calzado, electrodomésticos, “gangarrias” de todo tipo, zona de videojuegos… Además de un Cinema espectacular, espacioso y cómodo.
Mi platillo favorito es el combo de minuta de pescado empanizado con papas fritas o plátano verde frito. Y unas salsas agridulces y picantes, que son realmente una delicia, aunque no aptas para paladares sensibles.
Y de postre: helado en cono (barquillo, como se dice en Cuba).
Siempre que visitamos el Giftland Mall, lo hacemos juntos, en familia.
Ninguno de nosotros se anima a ir solo, sin convocar a los otros, pues para disfrutar a plenitud, al menos en nuestro caso, necesitamos hacerlo acompañados.
En cada fecha importante, los administradores del Giftland Mall, adornan el lugar según la temática. Así que cada visita, se siente como la primera vez.
Mi mamá se asombra con tantas luces y adornos hermosos, como una niña pequeña. Disfruto mucho verla ilusionarse a cada paso que da. Los ojos se llenan de brillo.
Mi sobrinito no se pierde una salida: Yo voy con ustedes, tía. Dice apenas escucha rumores de viaje en el ambiente. Y, ni corto ni perezoso corre a decirle a su mamá que lo aliste, pues sabe que no necesita invitación oficial. Él no puede faltar en la salida familiar.
Mi hijo adolescente camina pavoneándose a ver qué chica voltea a mirarlo, les guiña el ojo y pone pose de galán. Mi esposo y yo solo nos miramos, intentando adivinar de cual de los dos sacó aquellos instintos de coquetería.

My mom is amazed by so many beautiful lights and decorations, like a little girl. I really enjoy seeing her get excited with every step she takes. The eyes fill with brilliance.
My little nephew never misses an outing: I'm going with you, aunt. He says he barely hears travel rumors in the air. And, without thinking twice, he runs to tell his mother to get him ready, because he knows that he doesn't need an official invitation. He can't miss the family outing.
My teenage son walks around strutting to see which girl turns to look at him, winks at them and puts on a gallant pose. My husband and I just looked at each other, trying to guess which of us got those flirtatious instincts from.
