Limited Supply
Helios is deflationary.
Here is something to look at. Originally there were ONE MILLION HELIOS available. 388484 are left in circulation so the majority of the tokens have already been burnt. However, up until now has been printing HELIOS tokens daily.
So up until today over 2000 HELIOS were released into the ecosystem daily.
But that will stop tomorrow.
Why will the printing stop?
Take a look 999978.184 tokens have been printed out of a maximum of 1,000,000. That means there are only 12 tokens left to print.
Only TWELVE
So then what?
Fewer tokens are available? When tokens are sold they aren't as easily replaced. When people want to burn tokens they pay more for them?
Now the HELIOS crew still hold a large quantity of tokens.
has 17,247 tokens and has been the one paying out delegation and token holding rewards. Looks like those will keep coming for the next while. However, they can't continue forever so i have a sneaky feeling that the min value that you see but never use? I think that will come into play as tokens get more and more scarce.
Will the price rise?
I certainly hope so! That's why the Great Little Dragons token holder () is actively buying the TOKEN.
Increased price of the token means fewer have to be burned in order to get a maximum upvote. Currently its over 50 HELIOS to get a $2.12 upvote. However as the token becomes increasingly scarce and valuable? That means that fewer tokens will be needed for a full upvote. Fewer tokens means you can stretch your HELIOS when burning even longer.
How high will it go?
Well, the most one token can be would be one burned token equal to a maximum upvote. That would put the value at 16 HIVE / HELIOS. I don't see that any time soon. Still the whole point of deflationary tokens like HELIOS is that they do get increasingly valuable as time goes by. At this point I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this token...
..... and hoping that my 1200 HELIOS (under the account) skyrocket in value... or at least need to get burnt much more slowly to get good upvotes :)
Whatever happens its an interesting case study. Curious how it turns out :)
