Changing things up a bit
I took a step away from my daily update on the HELIOS token because I got a warning from the Hive Watchers that I shouldn't be posting repetitive content. I totally understand their viewpoint and while I thought I was justified in making a daily journal on how the token was going I will bend to their ideas.
Why?
I'm a guest here and I want to be a good Hivian.
But on to today's post
There are 386108 HELIOS tokens remaining.
Of the original Million Helios tokens that were originally minted 60% of them are already burnt.
Looking a little deeper 138870 tokens are held by the and 47865 by
. Drop out the top 4 holders and there are only 148,242 tokens left. Which of course leads to the question, So what? There are lots of tokens left. Right?
Actually there are relatively few tokens left. If you consider that this morning it was 56 HELIOS to get the to do one full upvote that means that 560 HELIOS would be burnt daily if the voter uses all of its voting power. At that rate? All the HELIOS coin would be burned in much less than a year leaving absolutely nothing left.
Looking at the HELIOS buy and sell order book this morning you would have seen that it was hovering at about 0.15 BUY and 0.18 SELL. Those are very low values considering how useful the token is and how scarce it is about to become. With consideration of the Great Little Dragons community the decision was to drop $300 CAD to buy HIVE to obtain a bunch of HELIOS and boost its value. Overall it worked.
The BUY order has almost 2000 HIVE looking to support HELIOS at 0.438 which is more than double its morning value. The SELL order at 0.600 has over 5000 HELIOS sitting there if anyone needs to buy them. Sure there are a few whales who could burst through support but I hope they don't.
Here is the reason:
It seems that a couple of delegators would receive HELIOS tokens and then dump them. Not a bad strategy because between getting HIVE weekly and HELIOS daily from both delegating and holding it is very valuable to delegate to
However the true value of the coin is that you can burn it for upvoting good content. The higher the value of HELIOS the fewer coins need to be burned for an upvote. Here are the actual numbers.
This morning when the HELIOS token was under 0.2 Hive

56.035 HELIOS for a full upvote
However look a few hours later after the price of HELIOS went up?

38.896 HELIOS for a full upvote
Ideally I would like to see the HELIOS value increase even further to the point where it has a value of 1.25 HIVE per HELIOS. No. That number isn't random but rather reflects the current value of HIVE and the current upvote.
Why a value of 1.25?
Easy. If HELIOS was valued at 1.25 then the math for HELIOS burn gets very simple. I HELIOS burnt would mean a 0.10 value for an upvote and 1.6 Hive back. 30% return on the burn and a simple way to figure out how much you need to burn for how much HBD value. 10 burned would be $1, 1 burned would be 0.10 and something odd like 4.32 would be $0.432 HBD.
More importantly:
Lower HELIOS burned per upvote means that the HELIOS tokens can be useful for longer before they run out.
So, if I'm right and HELIOS tokens rise in value to where I think they should be that $300 gamble will turn into $600+. Well, is on track for getting about 9000 HELIOS tokens and if things go well? That would be $900 return from writing good posts.
Or people could dump the token and we all lose
Or people could stop delegating to and the votes struggle
Or could vanish overnight and I lose everything.
Lots of things can go wrong but I prefer to think of how they can go right. Time will tell :)
I'll run numbers tomorrow :)
As things are very much in flux right now I'm not going to do my usual HOLD, BURN, DELEGATE values but I think they will be very interesting to see tomorrow :)
Thanks for reading
(and if the are watching today I hope this fits the original ideas and content you were looking for :)
