Greetings to the beautiful people of this community.
Today, I would be sharing my concerns on this week's topic TRANSPORTATION. I hope you enjoy reading this.
We, humans cannot be restricted nor confined to a place. Our business and everyday activities too, require that we embark on journies whether long distance or short distance. Depending on what you can afford and the distance, you could either go by foot, ride a bicycle, use a vehicle, go by water, use the train( not very efficient I this part of the world) or fly a plane.
When my brother returned from his state of residence, down here, in February, to cast his vote during the elections, he came by bus and the price for transport was, then, higher than it should.
But now, lol… Compared to when he last got back, the fare has tripled. Blame that on the government and the cancellation of fuel subsidy which brought about increase in price of fuel, which in turn led to fuel scarcity and hence, a jack in the price of transport. Can you imagine that a distance i once paid 150naira now costs 300naira. That’s double the price.
However the price changes, I have to go out. To work especially. And there’s no way I am walking that distance. The annoying thing about the whole happening is that, incomes and salaries are not increasing as the price of items and transport. SMH!
But we're known to adapt and for that, a man has to do what a man has to do. So first, aside work, I plan my other movement and limit going out unnecessarily.
Anything that takes me out for something I cannot avoid, sees me performing other tasks too.
Say, I need to go by the football field, I would plan my movement, so I can stop by the market and get groceries or just do any other thing that needs to be done within that location, which could have taken me out, the next day or in that week.
One of the things that i have learned to do is set out early for work in the day, and walk some distance before boarding a vehicle. It cuts down on the transport fare.
Also, I started to board these long buses. I never used to like them(I still do not) because they take much time to get full, they are always cramped too and very noisy. But they got their advantages.Their fees are not as expensive as the taxis and regular buses. Plus, paying what I do when I board them still feels like I am using a taxi.
I’ll be doing an Interstate travel sometime this month for something that I cannot avoid. And when I checked for bus ticket, it was not smiling. But there’s not much I can do about that.
Travelling within a region in my country is much less expensive than inter-state travels. Right now, we're all trying to adapt to the new change.
And that Is it for transportation in my country.
Thanks for stopping by.
