Hello to whoever is reading this!
This is my first time taking part in the SunThursday Contest and I thought it would be apt to share about my experience watching a sunrise, since it represents the beginning of the day too!
This took place in 2013, among the mountainous areas in the outskirts of the city of Yogyakarta in Indonesia. I remembered having to waking at 4am to get ready for this journey. It was freezing cold (<10 degrees Celsius) and I only had T-shirts and bermudas because I didn't expect Indonesia, being a country near the equator, would be so cold.
The local guide drove us to the foot on the mountain and we had to ascend the mountain on foot in total darkness except light from the torchlight and our mobile phones. It took us around 40 minutes to reach the viewing point and we stood there to wait, shivering in the coldness, but also excited at the same time!
It wasn't long before the sun peeked from the horizon. Despite the coldness, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was totally mesmerised by the view. I thought the clouds and mountains provided a beautiful backdrop. Nature is indeed magical.
Before I end off, let's all remind ourselves that no matter how bad some of our days can get, the sun will rise the next day and we can all start afresh in the brand new day!
With that, I thank you for reading and hope you like the photos!
