So i'm back in Otuoke my school community to tend to some unfinished business. I've been singing in doors a lot today and i just had a feeling to go go out to the university compound, at the center there's a building called the fountain block which has now become my most recent outdoor singing spot. Even though there were a few people passing and watching while i sang, it's a far cry from when school is in session plus it helps me work on my shyness problem so i'll be doing a lot more singing here as well as in other open spaces. I've found that singing out in the open makes me feel like a bird with plenty sky.
Today i bring you a song from Sam smith's In the lonely hour albulm, a body of work that was my companion for the most part of 2015. The songs on that body of work were therapeutic for me in that i saw someone who could relate to my pain and express them in such an artistic way. I was greatly inspired and it helped me shed a tear or two when i need it. I relish this opportunity to perform this iconic sad song and even though the original has a piano accompaniment, I hope you enjoy my acapella rendition.
I made this video in a single take as part of a personal training technique, please tell me what you thought of it : )
Drowning shadows
Running a round
chasing hearts
chasing bodies to fix the parts
I dont know how
I reached this place
So far from heaven,
so far from grace
Am i wrong to give into the pressure chz i feel like this city's got the better of me
All this casual love isn't what it seems
and i try to imagine something closer to somebody who is good for me
i'm so tired of all this searching
do i do i do i
do i go home to nothing
or stay out for more
give into someone
or lock down my door
I'll drown all of my shadows
drown them like before
i'm drowning shadows once more
once more
once more
go home to nothing or stay out for more
and i drown all of my shadows
drown them like before
i'm drowning shadows once more
