The whole afternoon sitting behind my screen waiting for BTC to break out further to take advantage of a super short trade, I can only conclude: What a waste of time! All this time I could've used for better things. Now it became evening, a great documentary on humanoids running on TV, I felt I had to pick up something I left quite some time ago...
...about time for a new Spread the Vibes contribution!
owwww, in case you were wondering: I tapped the record button for the documentary for a later watch. It was either that or this post 🙃
For all of you not familiar with StV: It's a challenge but then it's not a real challenge. Anybody can participate. It's pretty easy. Scroll through the #spreadthevibes tag, select a post you like to react to, select your piece of music you like to share with us and think of a story that goes along with it. Then write the post: reaction to the post you selected and your story around the music you share. No additional rules, other than the advice to use #spreadthevibes tag. Rewards are available for those posts that we select in form of a larger curation value.
Enough said! Lets get on with it...
I lost count of the amount of StV posts to which I was invited to respond. Still have a few open in my browser and realise those are from January, February and March hahahahaha Really? Is it that long ago? I'll be responding to all these three below, followed by my own selection (a tiny glimpse: it's a re-discovery, an album that I didn't listen to for many many years).
RESPONSE: StV contribution by MiPiano: Prince of Denmark's March
As we all know (and if you don't know, just believe me), MiPiano is playing great again after her usual thorough and sometimes lengthy study learning a new piece of music. Though, this time, not the best piece I heard. Maybe the worst. At least, it's totally not my style of classical music. Sounds too simple. Too marchie (owww, it was written for a march pfff hahaha). Too happy? Too... I don't know, not my cup of tea.
I still remember quite vividly she posted this to our chain. It was the title of the music that triggered me: Prince of Denmark March. Ditch the 'March' and we have 1) a guy from the royal house of Denmark and 2) the name of an electronic artist. Both crossed my mind when seeing the post back in January.
About two decades ago I discovered the Cahors area for its wine. An area just below the Bordeaux vineyards in France. Correct me when I'm wrong since I don't know anything about wine, but apparently, Cahors wines are not well known. Though not well known, known in the traditional sense, by an important family in Europe. I was told by one of the locals, the royal house of Denmark loves Cahors wines and always orders loads of them, every single season.
Back then, when I was for the first time in this area, I tested some of the wines at small to tiny vineyards. After a day or two, my trunk was loaded. Heavy red wines with super round bodies for just a handful of coins per bottle. Similar Bordeaux wines go for higher double-digit amounts of coins in restaurants. Since then, I never buy Bordeaux wines anymore; Instead, I go for the ones from Cahors.
Part of the collective 'Giegling' is this 'Prince of Denmark'. Giegling is a topic of another post. Some great artists in their collective, that I can tell you. One of them, the Prince of Denmark. A big mystery to me. Who he or she is? I don't know. Supposedly it is not the real prince of Denmark. That I learned through a friend from one of the Giegling clan. Must be lesser of a mystery for others, since Prince of Denmark must make live appearances. Several set recordings from live events online. One of them I link here:clickme so you get an idea of what kind of music this artist plays. I kinda like this recording. Not too much party material, but great for home listening and for chill-out areas of cosy, less mainstream, festivals.
RESPONSE: StV contribution by Mineopoly: Simple Minds
Obviously, I have to respond to this post. Simple Minds. First I thought: He is very aware of my state of mind. Second thought: Nothing {so simple my mind can be}. Third thought: Still nothing {as simple as it gets}. Fourth thought: Let's click the link.
...and then, after another click: "Don't You" shouting loud from my speakers!
Such a great song this is! And yes, the movie Breakfast Club! Who doesn't know this one? A classic, though for teenagers. Definitely not for oldies. But still classic 😀 Must have watched this one multiple times back in the day. Liked the group of quite different youngsters trying to get along with each other. Liked the music even more. Got me the CD> The music, not the movie. Listened to it for a long time, and then forgot about it. And then the StV post, the share, and the happy look on my face and feel in my body when listening. Again today while writing, happiness all over. Such a great song this is! {oops, repeating myself, let's move on to the next...}
RESPONSE: StV contribution by MiPiano: Wagner
Though I like classical music a lot, I don't know anything about this genre. It's like my knowledge of wines. Nothing. Ziltch. Nada. Noppes.
Wagner. The name rings a bell. Ride of the Valkyries. Nice title. March music? Yes, I found out hitting the play button. This time, proper march music. March melodies I like! Well, melodies? Maybe some of them are in this piece, but mostly it is about 'march' sounds. But then of the kind, I like. Heavy. Hard. Powerful. Composed and played with a lot of determination! At least, I can imagine it is composed with lots of determination. The playing part, we can all hear. Just hop over to the post linked in the paragraph title and click the play button. March music, don't you think?
MY SELECTION
It was two weeks ago. En route to a little boat to spend the weekend. Beautiful day: Blue sky, Sun high in the sky. Chauffeuring my own hybrid car almost as old as I am (times 5), as grey as my hair (but much darker). Listening Trentemøller's first album. An album I must have somewhere around. Stored away probably together with my other tapes and CDs. For reasons I don't remember, I selected this album to play while enjoying the drive.
What can I tell?
The opening track put my body hair up, almost immediately. Regardless of the fact that I couldn't hear it super well. Tire, wind and engine noises in the mix. It is the cracking, clapping sounds and the eerie parts of this track that does it for me. The dreamy flow provides a contrast to bring everything in balance. The drumming part: Euhmm not sure. I kinda like it I think. Am a little out of listening rock-ish kind of music. That said, most rock music is not to my liking anyways. But still, the drumming part could be part of a rock track, but could also be part of...an electronic music arrangement. Have a listen for yourself. As usual, I advise using some quality headphones or HIFI-like speakers. And do not only listen to the first track but also listen to the other 12. More good stuff, guaranteed 😉
Don't know what I can tell you about Trentemøller that is of interest other than the fact this album is a kinda bridge between electronic and acoustic music. Most, if not all, of the tracks on this album introduce some acoustic or electric-acoustic instrument. Maybe that's also a reason why I like this album a lot. The bridge. The combination with acoustic instruments. The not-so-normal approach. But definitely, also the music itself 😍
What do you think about this one yourself?
AND YOU?
Will you try and 'play' this challenge-not-challenge?
Story, Music and Responds in a post: That's All!
You may invite some peeps to follow up on yours. But not a rule at all 😉
ENDNOTE
Am not so much of an endnote guy. But since the endnote was invented, I can't deny its existence. Therefore, from time to time, I use the concept. I have no clue what to do with it though. That's why you may think: "What the hell is he writing here?" No worries. It's not you. It's me. Have nothing I can think of that makes sense for an endnote. The only thing that comes to mind is asking you whether you liked this post. Whether you like the StV concept. And whether you become active and 'play' ball with me here. Owww and my invites. Almost forgot about those.
