The world is full of musical talent everywhere you look.... There is no doubt about that. The effects of music as a catalyst in human beings, plants and animals are well known. Even in the zygote and foetus stages in the womb (as far as life is concerned). However, we have rarely stopped to see why this amazing fascination, which we sometimes cannot decipher, is so astonishing. And in fact, a good example of that is definitely, without the slightest hint of doubt: Daft Punk. A band from the electronic, electro-rock, house, French house, you name it genre; that if there is one thing they have done during their extensive and nurturing career is, precisely, to develop the power of sounds and turn it into harmonies, melodies and manna for the souls of those of us who appreciate their talent, legacy and vision.
El mundo está lleno de talento musical por donde se mire... Eso es indudable. Son conocidos, los efectos que tiene la música como catalizador en los seres humanos, plantas, animales. Incluso, en las etapas de cigoto y feto, dentro del útero materno (en lo que a vida se refiere). No obstante, pocas veces nos hemos detenido a ver el por qué de esta fascinación tan asombrosa, que a veces no podemos descifrar. Y de hecho, un buen ejemplo de eso es, definitivamente, sin el menor atisbo de duda: Daft Punk. Una banda del género electrónico, electro-rock, house, french house, you name it; que si hay algo que ha hecho durante su extensa y nutrida carrera es, precisamente, desarrollar el poder de los sonidos y convertirlo en armonías, melodías y maná para el alma de aquellos que apreciamos su talento, legado y visión.
And you know what is really difficult? To classify these guys. Quite simply, they are a duo that changed everything; including the use of the controversial, misunderstood and discussed "autotune". On the band's most famous single, or at least the one that charted the longest in the UK, "One More Time", the use of this tuning and harmonic tool is simply undeniable, to give just one brief example. Nowadays, we are very badly influenced by what we believe to be right and wrong, musically speaking. However, the autotune, the reverb, the synth, or the multiple loops used by the French guys of Daft Punk, just bring mastery, artistry, the desire to explore your wild and unbridled side, while having fun and feeling happy.
Y es que, ¿saben qué es realmente difícil? Clasificar a estos muchachos. Sencillamente, son un dúo que lo cambió todo; incluyendo el uso del tan polémico, mal entendido y discutido, "autotune". En el single más famoso de la banda, o al menos, el que mayor tiempo estuvo en el chart del Reino Unido, "One More Time"; sencillamente es innegable el uso de esta herramiento de afinación y armonía, por tan solo dar un breve ejemplo. Actualmente, estamos muy mal influenciados sobre lo que creemos correcto o incorrecto, musicalmente hablando. Sin embargo, tanto el autotune, como el reverb el synth, o los múltiples loops que emplean los chicos franceses de Daft Punk, solo brindan maestría, arte, ganas de explorar tu lado más salvaje y desenfrenado; al mismo tiempo que te diviertes y sientes felicidad.
Who knew that a couple of French guys, with a sampler, jazz, pop, rock records, and a fascination for The Beatles, The Police and Giorgio Moroder, would do such a good job; that when they announced their final retirement in 2021, they would generate so much sadness and emptiness in fans all over the world? Well, this is part of the obvious legacy of a duo that knew how to win the hearts of millions of people on five continents with demonstrations of talent, efficiency and mastery. Guys who were never afraid of experimentation. Creators of iconic tracks in electronic music such as "Revolution 909", "Voyager", or "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"; and they even collaborated (already legends of the genre) with promising artists such as The Weeknd and other established ones such as Pharrell Williams.

In this sense, to talk about what Daft Punk has done in music is to pay homage to what began in Detroit in the 80's, and which would soon take solid and successful ground in Europe. And yes, I am clearly talking about the influences of techno and electronic music as we know, dance and feel it today. What's more, if there is something incredible about this duo, it is the innovation and that during their four studio albums, they never stopped bringing new elements and that made them the band's hallmark, as the singles did the same on radios all over the planet. This is how we arrive at the emblematic use of synthesizers, the robotisation of vocals, and the most enthusiastic use of funky guitars within the compositions mixed with the pop and evidently house touch of their tracks.
En este sentido, hablar de lo que ha hecho Daft Punk en la música, es hacer homenaje a lo que empezó en Detroit en la década de los 80's, y que pronto tomaría un terreno sólido y exitoso en Europa. Y sí, hablo, claramente, de las influencias del techno y la música electrónica, tal cual la conocemos, bailamos y sentimos hoy día. Es más, si hay algo increíble en este dúo es la innovación y que durante sus cuatro álbumes de estudio, no pararon de traer elementos nuevos y que los convirtieron en el sello representativo de la banda, a medida que los singles hacían lo propio en las radios de todo el planeta. Es así, como llegamos al uso emblema de los sintetizadores, de la robotización de las voces, y del empleo más entusiasta de las guitarras funky dentro de las composiciones mezcladas con el toque pop y evidentemente house de sus tracks.
Moreover, the use of the "mystery of identity", so characteristic of pop music, although it did not start with Daft Punk, is something that helped the duo to generate much more attention and, as a collateral collateral, also helped the identity they proliferate to maintain its mystical and uncertainty-filled effect.
