The first thing anyone who knows me should know about me when it comes to music is that I am a big fan of Alessia Cara. I love her music and I love it more, her voice is soothing to me and her lyrics are top-notch.
There is something that has changed about me for the past few months in terms of music, I usually watch out for the lyrics of songs, normally I would just go for the vibe and rhythm of a music but now, I have realized that the type of song I feed myself with has impact in my daily lives, my thoughts and my mindset.
That is why I continue to fall in love more and more with Alessia Cara's music. Most of her songs (if not all) are so motivating and inspiring, I find her songs comforting and a source of joy. Today, I’ll be sharing with you one of my favorite songs by Alessia Cara, titled “My Song”
This song focused on confidence, self-acceptance, self-empowerment, liberation from fear, expectations, pressure, and many more. This song captivates and captures so many emotions. However, the song is about her music and liberating herself from people's expectations and pressure and how she finally stood to her true self.

Personally, since I am not a singer, I do replace the “songs” with “goals and dreams, my thoughts and everything in between”. Just like Alessia said she would continue penning down her songs regardless of people’s expectations and even if she goes off-key.
There are a lot of things people expect from us, the society, our family, and people superior to us. Those things that weigh us, dragged us in the opposition way that our dream call. I have learnt a lot from this song, most times it just boosts my morale.

Soon you are lost in the dark, forgetting who you are and what your purpose are

You now wait for their voice to guide you in the dark,
“Stay within the tunes” they always scream.
It became a routine.
Easy for you to follow and hard for you to find your true self
Almost falling to your demise.
It is just a little more courage needed to diverge from their expectations.
A little more scream and your voice will be heard
Scream out loud and create your tune, without expecting anyone’s approval
Let your echoes define you, let them smash the walls that bind you
Lost in your voice, find the melody of courage that beckons you, where you truly belong.
Embrace the flaws, go out of the tune
Don’t diminish your voice for anyone. They can always stuff their ears or you stuff yours
Continue in the symphony of authenticity, where your true self lies.
