Who doesn't like to remember their childhood or adolescence through music?
As a child, I was amused to hear my mother or my grandmother say: "oh.... that song was in fashion when I was X years old" with a nostalgia that took them back to that time. And it turns out that now, I'm the one who says that phrase and my children look at me with strange faces.
And lately, it has been music that has helped me on many occasions to lift my spirits, after having migrated from my country 5 years ago.
So I have one more reason to thank youtube, especially because it allows me to stay musically attached to Venezuela through the videos I get there when I need them.
Precisely, doing a casual search for music on this platform, I got the material I want to talk about today, which is the work of a group of Venezuelan musicians, who have been dedicated to rescue not only music from long ago, but to give visualization to national artists who have been forgotten after leaving the orchestras that took them to the top.
To be able to listen again to familiar voices from my adolescence, but not updated material, is something that really pleases me and that is why I want to share it with you.
For those who are my contemporaries, being able to listen to Ilan Chester today is priceless. Or remembering Selena's hits masterfully interpreted by Raquel Bustamante (one of the new musical voices of the country), are jewels that transport us not only to our adolescence, but also back to the country that for various reasons we had to leave behind.
And although there are other videos that offer similar shows, I really prefer the ones offered by FreeCover, because they go from one genre to another, and have enough to put together a pretty eclectic playlist musically.
My favorites, and that I use at the moment I'm writing my posts, are the one of Miriam Cruz, the lead singer of the Dominican group Las Chicas del Can and that on more than one occasion makes me stop work and start dancing for a while, as well as the one of Ruby Perez, singer of the Wilfrido Vargas Orchestra.

Likewise, groups that no longer exist, such as Sandy y Papo, or that have lost visibility for new generations, such as Ilegales, have been highlighted in these videos that are recorded in an "informal" manner with the public surrounding the band, celebrating and enjoying the music as a party.

And of course the presence of Venezuelan singers such as Rafael (El pollo) Brito, Nelson Arrieta and the group Desorden Público make it a kind of umbilical cord that takes us emotionally back to Venezuela.

I am pleased to see that despite the situation that Venezuela has been going through for many years now, there are initiatives like this that not only bring joy to those who are still there, but also to those of us who now live in any corner of the planet.
So I invite you to visit their Youtube channel and choose your favorite artists with current arrangements to enjoy a while of these materials that are a jewel.
