Saying goodbye to 2023 to the rhythm of Cha-cha-chá / Despedir 2023 a ritmo de Cha-cha-chá

It is difficult to write today when we are at the gates of a new year and we want to tell our friends so many nice things and so many words of encouragement, because we know that not all of them will say goodbye with total happiness.

Escribir hoy es algo difícil cuando estamos a las puertas de un nuevo año y queremos decirles a los amigos tantas cosas bonitas y tantas palabras de aliento, porque sabemos que no todos lo despedirán con total felicidad.

Life is a challenge and it is in our hands to make it more bearable and to strive at all costs to be better, more humane and more caring.

Let us take care of our families, our friends and our companions. Let us improve the health of those who are ill today and wish them a speedy recovery.

For all that I want to say goodbye for this year with a post that carries some Cuban music for the enjoyment of you Hive friends. Yes, Cuban music that originated here in Candelaria, the town where I live, and I am referring to the Cha-cha-chá and its author Jesús Enrique Jorrín Oleaga, born on December 25, 1926, violinist and composer. In 1951 he composed for the first time El Cha-cha-chá.

La vida es un reto y en nuestras manos está el hacerla más llevadera y proponernos a toda costa ser mejores, más humanos y más solidarios.

Cuidemos de nuestras familias, de nuestros amigos y de nuestros compañeros. Mejorar la salud de aquellos que hoy tienen alguna enfermedad y desearles se recuperen pronto.

Por todo eso quiero despedirme por este año con un post que lleve algo de música cubana para el disfrute de ustedes amigos de Hive. Sí, música cubana que tuvo su origen aquí en Candelaria pueblo donde vivo, y me refiero al Cha-cha-chá y su autor Jesús Enrique Jorrín Oleaga, nacido el 25 de Diciembre de 1926, violinista y compositor. En el año 1951 compuso por primera vez El Cha-cha-chá.

This musical genre that lasts until today can be heard in any corner of Cuba and the world, it is catchy and very easy to dance, it has the Cuban seal, but also the sound of mambo and rumba. All the musical groups of Cuba have it incorporated in their repertoire. And if that were not enough, every foreign visitor wants to learn how to dance it.

It is heard a lot in dance competitions, in dance groups. In Candelaria every year the contest Enrique Jorrín in Memoriam is held, in which new musical creators participate and the best compositions are awarded.

I put in your consideration one of the most heard compositions of this author, whose title is "La Engañadora". In synthesis, this song refers to a young Cuban girl, beautiful with a good body that all men had to look at and that walked through the streets of Havana, Prado and Neptuno, but that her forms were only fillers, which she wore with pillows to show off her wide hips.

Este género musical que perdura hasta nuestros días podemos oírlo en cualquier rincón de Cuba y el mundo, es pegajoso y muy fácil de bailar lleva el sello cubano, pero también sonoridad del mambo y rumba. Todas las agrupaciones musicales de Cuba lo tienen incorporado en su repertorio. Y por si fuera poco todo visitante extranjero quiere aprender a bailarlo.

Se escucha mucho en competencias de baile, en agrupaciones danzarias. En Candelaria todos los años se realiza el concurso Enrique Jorrín in Memoriam, en el que participan nuevos creadores musicales y se premian las mejores composiciones.

Pongo en consideración de ustedes una de las composiciones más oídas de este autor, cuyo título es “La Engañadora”. En síntesis, esta canción se refiere a una joven cubana, bonita de buen cuerpo que todos los hombres tenían que mirar y se paseaba por las calles de la Habana, Prado y Neptuno, pero que sus formas eran solo rellenos, que se ponía con almohaditas para lucir sus anchas caderas.

Jorrín was a prolific composer, and toured with his orchestra in many countries around the world. He was named illustrious son of Candelaria.

So I want to say goodbye to the year 2023 wishing you a happy New Year's Eve and a prosperous year 2024 which will surely be a year of great challenges for our lives. Let's dance the 31st of December waiting for the new year to the rhythm of Cha-cha-cha.

Jorrín fue un compositor muy prolifero, y recorrió con su orquesta muchos países del mundo. Fue nombrado hijo ilustre de Candelaria.
