Stop child marriage
Child marriage is still a big problem for our society and state. The administration of our country is strict and vocal enough to solve such problems. Girls are being given in marriage before the prescribed age with various tricks. Child marriage is legally prohibited and a punishable offense. According to the rules and regulations of our country, the age of boys should be 21 and the age of girls should be at least 18. It is a punishable offense under the law of our country to get married at a younger age than the age mentioned above.
Then the shame of child marriage will never come down from the neck of the nation. Bangladesh's progress in women empowerment is interesting. According to an earlier survey, 64% of girls in Bangladesh are married off before the age of 18 years. The government is also not having the desired success in raising awareness and campaigning on behalf of NGOs about the evils of child marriage. Child marriage in Bangladesh has doubled due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Human rights group HRW says, in its global report that Bangladesh is still one of the top countries in terms of child marriage. Despite the goodwill of the top echelons of the government to stop child marriage, there is no escape from this curse. There is no area in the country where child marriage is not taking place, despite the existence of laws against child marriage in the country, it is being ignored. The people of the country are doing this by disobeying the government.
In order to prevent child marriage, marriages of women under the age of 18 should be identified as a crime as well as the reasons why parents are being forced to marry their daughters at an early age. The government should take care of that. Parents knowingly force their daughters into the poison of child marriage to save them from the horrible trend of eve-teasing or harassment of women. In order to prevent child marriage, the government and the society must be strict against quarrels.
