My all time favourite song 🤩

I would like to start this by saying this was the toughest contest to participate in! I have thousands and thousands of songs that I love and mean so much to me. It was quite difficult to choose just one but here we go 😁

The song that made the cut for me was “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Check out and video and listen to the song while I share with you the reasons behind my choice:

Apart from being a masterpiece and such a massive hit, this song has helped me get through life and has been on my playlist for years!

Reason #1 - The movie

This song is part of the soundtrack for the movie “City of Angels”. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it. It portrays a world where an angel falls in love with a human and the sacrifices he has to make to be able to be with her.

Reason #2 - Saddest Breakup Song

This song has also helped me get through breakups. It’s a bit weird that a very intimate love song also became a wonderful addition to my depressing playlists 😳 But these few lines still ring true to me - maybe that’s the reason why one of my first tattoos were exactly these lyrics:

“When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know you’re alive”

Powerful, I know 💔😭

Reason #3 - The Most Beautiful Love Song

I mean, anybody who has ever been in love…How can you not feel these lyrics:

“And I’d give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be
And I don’t wanna go home right now…”

Reason #4 - The Band (and more specifically, John Rzeznik)

I honestly don’t believe “Iris” would’ve sounded the same or had the same success and impact if it was not for The Goo Goo Dolls. The melody, the lyrics and Johnny’s raspy voice turned this song into something that transcends time and space ❤️
