Today I am taking you to a new place that I visited two weeks ago: the Island of the Dead.
A beautiful park located near the Piave river.

Oggi vi porto in un posto nuovo che ho visitato due settimane fa: l'Isola dei Morti.
Un bellissimo parco situato nei pressi del Fiume Piave.
The idea of coming to this park located in Moriago della Battaglia, in the province of Treviso, was born when I noticed that the sports association to which I am registered, organized the excursion.
It had to be a simple excursion, instead it was a very tiring 13 km excursion!

L'idea di venire in questo parco situato a Moriago della Battaglia, nella provincia di Treviso, è nata quando ho notato che l'associazione sportiva a cui sono iscritto, ha organizzato l'escursione.
Doveva essere un'escursione semplice, invece è stata impegnativa di ben 13 chilometri, molto faticosa!
The name of this beautiful park is due to the history that marked it: The last days of October 1918, the offensive of the Battle of Victory led by the Arditi developed and which led to the end of the Great War.
Thousands of very young soldiers, the nineteen-year-old boys of '99, sacrificed their lives.
The name of this place, now a wonderful garden along the Piave, is due to the fact that the whole ground was covered with soldiers who fell in battle and the comrades advancing had to make their way through the spooky scenery.

Il nome di questo bel parco è dovuto alla storia che l'ha segnato: Gli ultimi giorni dell'ottobre del 1918, si sviluppò l'offensiva della Battaglia della Vittoria guidata dagli Arditi e che portò alla fine della Grande Guerra.
Sacrificarono la vita migliaia di giovanissimi soldati, i diciannovenni Ragazzi del '99.
Il nome di questo luogo, ora meraviglioso giardino lungo il Piave, è dovuto al fatto che tutto il terreno era ricoperto di soldati caduti in battaglia e i commilitoni avanzando dovettero farsi largo in quello spettrale scenario.

Trying to maintain a safety distance of at least one meter, we walked along the path.

The park is really large and there are many equipped areas where you can picnic on the tables and benches available.

After a long tree-lined avenue we came to a large open space.

Dopo un lungo viale alberato siamo giunti in un ampio spiazzo.
On the sides of the large space there are relics and war monuments.

Ai lati dell'ampio spazio ci sono cimeli e monumenti di guerra.
There is a votive temple...

On the direction of the tree-lined avenue there is a pyramidal monument in memory of all the young people who lost their lives in that place.

An effective way to stimulate empathy and respect for the place.

The day was hot and you could feel the humidity of the rains of the previous days.

The path was mostly in direct sunlight, the sections in the shade were few and this tired us a lot.

Il sentiero era per maggiore sotto il sole diretto, i tratti all'ombra erano pochi e questo ci ha affaticati molto.
Then we approached an area that I had already visited last year: the oasis of white fountains, a naturalistic oasis with beautiful clear spring water streams.

Poi ci siamo avvicinati in una zona che avevo già visitato lo scorso anno: l'oasi fontane bianche, un oasi naturalistica con bellissimi corsi d'acqua sorgiva trasparente.
With running water near the paths the temperature was perfect and our mascot decided to take a bath.

Con l'acqua corrente vicino ai sentieri la temperatura era perfetta e la nostra mascotte ha deciso di farsi un bagnetto.
I really wanted to stop and take a break and maybe swim in that crystal clear water but I was in a group and our guide was immovable.

Avrei voluto tanto fermarmi fare pausa e magari fare il bagno in quell'acqua cristallina ma ero in gruppo e la nostra guida era inamovibile.
That part of the route was very beautiful, almost an adventure route with crossings, bridges, walkways...

I could easily see the fish in that transparent water.

The return was really tiring because we had no lunch and it was the hottest hour of the day with the sun beating hard.

Il ritorno è stato veramente stancante perchè non avevamo pranzato ed era l'ora più calda della giornata con il sole che picchiava forte.
Even if the excursion was all on the plane, I really struggled because of the heat and because we never stopped...maybe I am not very trained because of the lockdown...
