Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing great this Monday morning đ
I'm back to share my running recap from last week. My goal is still to be able to run 5km non-stop by September, and a little before would be awesome.
I restarted my training plan in week 3, since I'd already been running on my own for two weeks, without following it.
As I mentioned last week, I've been trying to find my easy pace (the pace at which I'm supposed to be able to talk comfortably without getting out of breath), but I'm not really getting there yet; it's still very unclear to me. I think it must be around 9 minutes per kilometer.
I've also tried breathing through my nose instead of my mouth, to actually be able to talk while running. But again, it's pretty difficult. I'm too used to breathing through my mouth and I can't seem to maintain a rhythm through my nose. I need to train on shorter runs.
Otherwise, I ran three times this week.
I started on Monday with an interval session: 4 minutes of running / 1 minute 30 seconds of walking, repeated 6 times.
I took the same route as when I go for a free run, the one where the end is tricky because of the slight inclines.
I didn't have any particular difficulties during this session; I could have easily done more repetitions. I'm pretty happy with myself đ
Then, I ran on Wednesday. The session was also interval training, as it's the best way to start running. After that, I can do sessions to work on my easy runs and heart rate zones.
In short, for this session, I did: (5 minutes of running / 1 minute 30 seconds of walking) x 4.
It was a short session, and overall I felt great. I managed to maintain a good running pace throughout. Even though I changed routes and there were some hills I hadn't anticipated.
And I finished the week with a free run on Sunday (yesterday). I ran with , and even though we don't run at the same pace, he often turned back to wait for me. Thanks to that, I managed to complete our loop for the second time.
So I ran 3.8 km, which is 30 minutes without stopping! đȘ
I'm so happy to have managed to run for 30 minutes without stopping again. It wasn't easy, and I almost gave up once or twice, but I made it! The first real challenges came after 2.5 km, right when I reached the "uphill" section. But this time, I fought to keep going. I slowed my pace, and that allowed me to persevere.
It's truly rewarding to be proud of yourself and push your limits! đ
In short, a great week of running.
On the other hand, we didn't have time for strength training sessions during our rest days. That's a shame.
Perhaps we'll find the time next week!
I wish you a good week, and I hope you're also proud of yourselves and what you're doing đ
See you soon, Johanna

Johanna
